i have a 5'6" Firewire Sweet Potato and i cracked the rail on her surfing some shorebreak.
Took it to get it fixed at one shop, patch fell off after 15 minutes in the water.
Took it to another shop, and she held up pretty good for a while, but it opened up again.

wondering if you guys think i should take it to the second shop again or if anyone has any experience with fixing a Firewire.

    Muchos Gracias, peeps.

Contact firewire and ask them there opinion? Or go back to the second shop, see if they will fix it again at no charge. Or atleast for cheaper

crappy fixes by the shops...probably didn't glass it right or just did a quick fill and then sand. I found that most fst balsa sucks up water and stays wet for quite a while. It needs to fully dry out...not knowing had bad the ding I assume it took in enough water to push the fix off. Also, if the second shop fix came off that easily (again) I'd go back and have hem Make good on the repair. It may be they're fixing it with PU and not epoxy...not glassing over. Can't tell without a pic.

Take it back. No reason why a proper fix would fall off... ever. Some possible reasons:

PU instead of epoxy (as said by L4T)
    Contamination of the repair surface
    Bad mix ratio
Failure to remove all loose material under the repair
Surface not properly prepped (sanded with at most 80 grit... better if it's 60 or even 40. Epoxy needs a better mechanical bond, vs. poly, which has a better chemical bond.)
