Charley Baldwin? Shaped out of FLA. First board bought with my own money was a CB thruster. Good board.

My 1st board was a hand me down MR single fin.

First Board - 7'2" Semi-gun Surfboards Hawaii that at one point had a broken off nose that someone re-glassed in place. Very yellow and not a great board to learn on, but all I could afford at the shop selling it.

Yeh, I remember seeing some CB boards. I had a couple quiet flights I liked over the years. Seems Fla got a lot of shapers.

9'2 longboard shaped by Jim Elliot... It was great - loved that board but I sold it for some reason....

It was blue and white... Then changed to blue and yellow lol

An inflatable canvas surf mat in 1969, Torrance, CA.
In 1972, it was a Jacobs single fin similar to the one pictured here. Never really got into surfing back then and ended up giving it to my brother.

6'2" Action Twin Fin. Bought it used for $60 back in 1991.

Cool Pea! I just used the google and checked him out. The "CB" Logo on his boards appear to be the same so I will assume it was. I came across this link to EC surf history which I thought was cool...discusses Charlie along with some others.

Funny this should come up. A couple Saturday's back I was having a cup of coffee and surfing the web. I hit craigslist and did a search for "Vintage Surfboard". I do this from time to time hoping to find a vintage longboard or something worth restoring. Half way down the first page of results THERE IT WAS!!!!! My very first surfboard. The one I learned on and the one I did my first ding repairs on. I had purchased this board in July of 1982 and traded it in towards a new one in July of 1985. Approximately 30 years to the day this board came back into my life. I messaged the guy and drove an hour and a half to go get it. Beat up a bit and browned from sun exposure but in tact. Fins are still the original set and its the same leash that was on it when I traded it in. I've got some ding repairs to do and I can't wait to see my kids ride it.

Beyond being the first surfboard I ever owned it was the very first thing I ever purchased with my own hard earned money. I worked the entire summer I turned 13 to buy this board. Can't believe I got it back!!!! And in such a random sort of way too.........

Most of what I am reading is great. Either a great first board or an absolute mistake for a first board. I jumped on a 6'0'' HIC and tried surfing knee high OCMD with it. Took 3+ boards before I realized I needed some volume and less rocker.

    awesome board - better story

I sold a campbell brothers thruster due to the need for money...really didn't want to sell it. Once I got a better job I saw it on CL and bought it back. Now it hangs on my wall reminding me of the tough financial times had... and the biggest swell I ever surfed on the east coast with it.

my second board (Reardon) was a sleek airbrushed twin with a trailer box...but it was way too small for me. Kinda worked for a couple weeks, but, being in my early teens, I quickly grew too big for it and it would bog on every wave. Had to go back to my pos single fin that didn't turn at all.

cool story. It would be interesting to see my first or even second boards...but I wouldn't want to keep them. I remember I put a bunch of dings in both of them and never fixed any of them (didn't know how and no access to the materials to try). Can't imagine they'd be anywhere but a landfill by now.
