Anyone been getting in the water at first light? How does that compare with the forecasted sunrise time on any weather or astronomy site? Obviously there are some factors to account for like weather patterns.

I'd like to talk about something other then what gloves to wear or how many times you change your diapers. Hope you guys can add some insight...

What exactly do you want to know? There will be light quite a while before the posted sunrise time........the sun actually breaking the horizon. If it is accurate to the minute as "forecasted" I never paid attention to that.

check this site for astronomical data it is 100% accurate as long as you input the right location/dates. It will give you the civil twilight times as well as sunrise/sunset moonrise/moonset/ solar transit, whatever you want. At civil twilight you will just barely be able to start seeing stuff.

Less of a forecast and more of just a mathematical fact....

I guess there's no strict question. I'd like to compare some websites and find out which ones are the most accurate. Thanks for the posts. Are you guys getting out at first light?

I love getting out at first light when its warmer (spring, summer, and fall), but during the winter I'll have to admit its a little less common for me..

MSW has a "First Light" feature on the forecast page. Swellinfo does not. Swellinfo should get on this soon!

that extra hour is so good. It will be surfable until 7:30 pm after this Saturday.

On the flip side, for those getting first light, it will be dark until about 6:45 or 7 am.
