Belmar is always the safest bet. They have shark nets and the laboradors keep the water slightly warmer (dog beach).

Both spots have cams so you can just check the cams. The sand shifts around a lot so peaks move quickly - but it's easy to find one.

Just make sure you have your flu shot, not allowed to surf MOCO without a flu shot as per Dr Cuda.
