Both cases are sad, just another example that mother ocean is not to be messed with, she has no mercy and is the strongest force on earth. Anyone who attemps to go out in these conditions is a fool.:(

rockaway is definitely not an easy place to surf. it's always heavier, the current is always stronger and it's always bigger. if i'm making the drive to surf there, i know i have to be on top of my game. RIP.

Yeah I heard about the person who died in Rockaway yesterday . I belive his leash got tangled on pileings that go out into the water and are hard to see when the tide is high.
I think he just started surfing recently this summer for what I have heard . When something this sad happens it makes me think about what I was told when I started surfing 15 years ago . "know you limits" If your not comfortable with you skills or it dont feel right sometimes its best to sit it out even though it make seem cowardly now in the end there is nothing cowardly in seeing the next day .

Very tradgic and my deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.
