Tons of chopper blues in the surf (MD). Fun on light tackle. Actually fried a few whole (gutted) for appetizer - actually pretty good.

^^^One of my all time favorite fishes, believe it or not. Fried, made into fishcakes, smoked, Italian breadcrumb crust... I grew up on the stuff.

Hahaha. You're nuts... my dad is the same way. He always keeps a cocktail blue to smoke and he loves it.
But I can't get in to it. I've tried so many times and I just can't get in to it

I use braid I like the KastKing stuff.. I even bought the sharky 2 when it came out on sale... it's kicking and working great... I use it more than my stradic. I used to fish a lot in Florida but now I moved back up north I'm fishing for bass, musky, striper etc... I love the reaction time of braid... you can feel everything. You can also cut right through weeds with a good jerk. I always use a couple feet of floro leader as well with the fg knot..

Blues and bass all afternoon today. Mini blitzes up and down the beach feasting on peanut bunker. I think that I may have walked 5-6 miles chasing the blitzes. Real finicky bass , I only caught five 27"ers with a bunch of bigger blues. Fun day for sure... Oh everything loved a white topwater Danny Swimmer super slow retreive.

Caught 9 tonight, nothing big but did get one that looked really big until I got him in the boat, 24 inches. Anyone using tsunami sand eels? These things are great especially in clear water and has been the hot lure for me lately.

Same in LB and deal. Pods as far as you can see.. some had bass, some had blues and some had humpbacks...

Light offshore so it was super easy to spot the pods.

Had 3 bass all right around 28" and called it a morning. Then went back with light kid and walked up and down the beach looking at other guys fish and a few whales.

Saw one fish that was 40" in LB

17 this afternoon under a cloudy drizzly sky. All schoolies nothing under 20 and one just over 25 inches. I'm getting close! The bigger fish looked huge 10 feet down in that clear water. I swear it looked like a legal fish but no dice.

Thankfully it never dies down in the Chesapeake and coastal bays. If you can take the cold you can catch fish all winter. It gets slow when the water drops under 42 degrees and although you can find fish at that temp they just sorta sit there. Thankfully an incoming tide in the morning on a sunny winter day at the beginning of outgoing tide can get them moving. If the water gets above 45 degrees they go nuts. They also school up and don't move around much, if you find a school you can sit and pick fish for hours. All these fish are small and I have never caught a keeper in my usual spots.

Thats Friggin awesome! This place scales down fast, that why you have to attack it when it turns on. Then don't stop till it slows down and the fish get tiny. Maybe when it shuts down here I'll take a drive south to your zone.

I remember that. My go to fish up after the stripers left was winter flounder in Shark River. Or rockcrabs. Does anyone still go after rock crabs? We used to sit at the belmar marina and catch big ones, break off a claw and throw the crab back. I once filled an igloo cooler to the top in a couple of hours. That was fun.

Crazy how night and day it was from yesterday to today. Pods up and down the beach yesterday and nothing today
