Got into a couple of fish on Wednesday night... then again today. Nothing over 26.5". Lots of peanut bunker... hopkins bunker size, and snag and drop where the only things working for me.

I got a bunch on the white Danny Swimmer through the peanutz. We had a sweet blitz by Mcloones and Pav pipe. I walked from little monmouth to Tak chasing a lively pod of bait. Caught about 15 schoolies to slots today. Maybe one keeper but the freezer is full #oncatchandreleasemode .

tautog, that was the first name for it but oyster-fish would be the correct term for this fish. kingfish or whiting?

Moving to the mid Atlantic from Port Monmouth NJ was like learning a new language. When I heard they had flounder here in the summer I was confused. I thought that maybe the water stayed cooler for some reason. When I asked a guy in a tackle shop what was working as bait he said squid and shiners. Shiners? Shiners are what you use under a bobber for largemouth bass and pickerel. Not only that but flounder eat sandworms and blood worms not squid. Do you mean spearing? Sand eels? "No shiners" he then pulls out a bag of frozen spearing. Are there blackfish here? There are some dark fish here he said. No I mean in the fall they hang around the rocks and eat crabs. No we only have tog he replied, and rockfish. Rockfish, maybe that's your name for blackfish I said. Well they're not really black more like silvery with stripes, wtf!

And you thought surfers were morons!!! hahahaha!!
Fishermen?? No name to explain their lack of IQ. Perhaps "dolt" would work, but it sounds too much like "bolt", and that would be a much higher IQ......hmmmm.....vexing, very vexing....

Got skunked today on the beach. Saw some whales close to shore, that was pretty cool.

Waves sucked this week in the ole MD but tautog fishing was on fire! Fish taco breakfast yesterday. Yummy. Slight bummer - put boat up for the winter so no more fishing reports from me. Smitty out.

I went out last night in the boat fished for an hour and a half. Caught nothing until the last 5 minutes then boated a small one maybe 17 inches. The water got really cold, at least on the bay and was in the 45 degree range. Never do well under 45 45 to 50 is usually prime. I didn't mark any fish on the sonar at all and the one I caught came out of nowhere since I had scanned that area first but had a hunch they might be there holding tight to structure.
