Get out there. Ask stupid questions at your local tackle shop, u might actually learn something. As long as you go into fishing knowing its not called catching, you will be ok.

I use hi-vis yellow suffix on my freshwater rods and green or grey power pro on my salt gear. A good sonar in a boat makes all the difference. I can ride around a bridge, find the fish and catch them in half the time as most of the other boats. Side imaging is key and a big screen. I use a Humminbird Helix 10 SI and its awesome. Check out this shot from the nanticoke river in March. Those are White Perch by the thousands, really fun on light tackle.

I have a piranha max! I had an 899si for a while and just upgraded. I paid more for the helix 10 then I did for my boat, lol.

I once saw a pic of a guy holding a giant cow with her eggs spewing out her. Made me sick to my stomach.

I'm a mono guy, I've lost too much tackle snagging on structure and not being able to yank it out. Although I do love how thin braid is, you barely need any weights to get it down there. It really depends what your fishing though; some swear by braid but its been more of a hassle than help in my experience. I like me some stretch.

Yep. More people need to educated in the practice of conservation, instead of stroking their egos.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people catching and killing fish but utilize the fish stocks wisely.

braid is great for fluke fishing a lot less drag so you can use a lot less weight 20 lb mono leader

i love the pics that have a boat of four and 8 cows lying on the dock. Striped bass taste great but wtf... do you really need 200 lbs of mercury loaded meat for 4 guys keep one a piece and throw the rest back

Caught and released. Note the hold too. Try to keep your hands and fingers out of the gills.

I switched back to mono. I loved the strength of braid but the knot strength seemed better with mono. I almost respooled this weekend with braid but I found some 12# in the garage. A well set drag is just as important as the line IMO.
