I see my surfboards and I want to paint them black,
No colors anymore I want them to turn black,
Black as night, black as coal,
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky,
I wanna see them painted, painted, painted, painted, black!

    Sorry Keith & Mick

    I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
    I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
    Of what was everything
All the waves have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...
All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I will be...yeah...
    Uh huh...uh huh...ooh...
    I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's waves, but why, why, why
Can't it be, can't it be mine

    Sorry Eddie

Got an old, beat-up 8-4 Gnaraloo fatty I picked up from a local surf shop a few years ago. Those things can take a beating. Take it out paddling when surf is ankle high and breaking in the shallows. No need damaging a good long board.
More running lately too - especially in the mornings. Tie in with some pushups, pull ups, and situps along the way. Rather be outside than in a gym.
In the evenings, have a couple cold ones and check the surf web sites before hitting the rack.

Shoulda taken the Fatty today. Knee high and breaking in the shallows at lunchtime. Cracked the nose of my long board in a sandbar and took it in the face from the tail and skeg when the board shot back after I fell off. Normally I throw my arms in front of my face, but it happen so fast. Embarrassing to get racked up in such small and lousy surf. Should display more wisdom for being 59, but I'd rather be out there than not.

So now I have a dinged board, face, and forehead. Had some explaining to do when I returned to the office. No stitches though. Was actually more concerned about damage to the board and water leakage, but it appears to be an easy fix.

DUDES... I BOUGHT A ROAD BIKE. ITS THAT FLAT.

I almost bought a SUP. Couldn't do it. Road bike. Instantly after being reminded that riding a bike is work, I realized I had made the wrong decision.

I now ride 15 miles on a gradual uphill into town and go to the brewery, get tacos and two IPAs, bomb home drunk-ish down 15 miles of mountainy windiness, and hit one of the amazing swimming holes on my road.

I think when all is said and done I've burned 1 calorie.
