I know most of you guys are going to say something how this isn't the gulf coast section, but nobody ever posts in that, so I figured maybe I could get help here. I am going down to Tampa in the end of August and I will be two-three hours from the East Coast. I am going to try to drive over as much as possible to surf, but is there any surf in the Gulf Coast? I know during cold fronts/hurricanes it can generate waves, but realistically, how many waves can I possibly get? Please just post in here with whatever information you guys have.

    also

I have a 5'8" lost rocket for sale, still white, two pressure bumps on the deck from duck diving. Other than that it is in perfect condition. Great board for junk waves, catches everything. Asking 375 OBO. Text me for pics, 908 839 5922.

I go to St. Pete's on Business once a month, haven't got to surf, get a lot of "should of been here yesterday"... but a local bartender said the sames areas as Kmac. Or you could take up SUP. When you do go east, go farther south to Jupiter/Juno.

Kmac got it. Bradenton has a pier that I've surfed a long time ago. I believe at one time that pier had a world record hammerhead caught off it (in the 80's). Sometimes you can log at Longboat Key. Also, the 4hr cross state drive might be interrupted by a cattle drive. Jupiter area, north and south of the inlet depending on the swell direction, can get good. Although it's been a loooooong time. Damn,......I'm old.

Twin Piers In Bradenton is my home break, they recently did a beach dredge there, and it created a shelf off the south pier which gives us a lil better break on a south day....Most good days Ill see alot of tampa st pete peeps infilitrating our spot....You really wanna go to white ave and beach street on the North end of anna maria island (10 minutes from piers) there a leash is optional and everybody is taj!!! we had 2 decent tropical storm swells last summer. There is plenty of surf on the gulf.

When its 88 out and the beach is packed, with nice waist to stomach ground swell comin in you will be happy...the water is 85 right now too.....

SHUFFLE YOUR FEET IS RIGHT!! I SURF OVER THOSE SUCKERS ALL THE TIME

GO ON GULFSTER.COM THATS OUR LOCAL WAVE GURU. AND LOTS OF PICS FROM THE AREA!!!!!
