This is what Winter has been like around these parts, it's been really fun the past few months. Hope the Spring is just as good, enjoy... http://www.gulfster.com/Daily/2014PictureGallery/030314ec/index.html
Had a friend down in Indiatlantic for the past two months who was driving me nuts with the pictures. It seemed like it was knee to waist everyday with bigger days thrown in every week or so. Crazy how the swell gets thrown at that coast while we are suffering from cold north winds. I wanted to make the trip so bad but couldn't get away. Still got at least 10 solid days in up here, albeit the coldest water I have felt I over 10 years.
Thanks for the pics. Love Florida -ever since I was a kid and we spent a summer vacation driving through the state, as well as when I was stationed in P'cola while in the Navy. My wife wants no part of it. She's afraid of the state: gators, pythons, sinkholes, swamps, & hurricanes. She didn't mind the earthquakes when we lived in CA. I digress. In your photos, the water itself really looks really nice too compared to up here (VB). Although two Sundays ago was the clearest I've seen it here in a long time. Beautiful. Last Sunday, it was brown, very murky, and smelled fishy. Of course, we're near the outlet of the Chesapeake Bay, the James and Elizabeth Rivers.
I spent a lot of time down that way, wonder if we've crossed paths. Yeah it's almost always at least knee to waist with the occasional chest to head plus day here and there. Glad everybody enjoyed the pics!
Haha tell wifey there is nothing to worry about, been here my whole life, the news and media make it sound scary
Those are great pictures DP! is that you having all that fun? I have been down with the Flu for over two weeks now and in the Penalty Box. I've so missed getting out there. Some day.....
Wow, man. Super jealous. We've had some good swells this winter, but nothing close to that clean. Seeing that shirtless dude made me a tad angry -5F this morning. Here's what my home break looks like.
Could have, he did have pictures on a few of the smaller days with someone on a sup in the background. He's a tall thin guy, blond hair, goofy foot, who has a condo right on the beach. He was on the beach every day with his wife (who also surfs) and two small boys.
More like ankle-shin. I have a 10'2" LB that I wouldn't bother taking out in that, and I enjoy small days just fine. The end of this week thru the weekend looks great, though.
The lines look really nice, we have a few cams that I can't gauge wave heights from. How are the winters up there? I have always loved Maine and had the dream that I would love to move there. I don't even mean for surfing, just in general.
This winter is the worst I can remember. Lots of snow, but that ain't the issue. I think we've had less than 20 days when it's been above 0F in the morning. I'm serious...so damn cold. I have not lived in Maine my whole life, but have been coming here since I was 8. I always wanted to move here, but it was tough to make the right career move to make it happen. I'll never move away...you can't beat it. Ocean, lakes, mountains, woods, no crime, excellent schools, craft beer, etc.. To me, it's perfect.
Nice! I love the outdoors, grew up on the beach but my dad lived in the mountains. I would go up in the summer for a few weeks and every other weekend during the year and became a fairly accomplished fly fisherman and a fisherman in general, loved the ice. It was the best of everything and Maine always struck me as that. I would sell everything and move there in an instant but as of now my wife wouldn't because of the cold. I'll have to work on that. I'm coming up for a week in August, can't wait.
