Nice crowd at the inlet today to welcome Gonzolo. Who paddles out, but our very own FLSURFDOG! You csn tell he has been surfing his whole life. People know him out there and he is an excellent surfer.

I watched him,he knows which wave to select, when to pull back and when to go for it.

I saw two really outstanding rides. The first one, he just killed it! A couple of strong paddles and he popped up like magic, just got this really long awesome ride and a 7 second barrel! He was schooling the young bucks at the break! GO DOGG! Way to represent SI!

Btw Dog, did you see the guy got shark bite on his foot? It's the guy who drives over from Ft Myers twice a month. Limped off the beach, got stitched up, came back for lunch at Sharkeys all bandaged up. I tried to buy him a beer, but he had a long drive ahead of him. Really nice guy, about your age.

Way to tear it up surfdog!

Same here up in NC. Was out from the AM until after 5. Peaked around 2PM, some beefy ones by the pier but pretty crowded. I found a punchy sand bar a ways down. Had fin pop up in front of me when I was paddling out at one point. Followed it out but never got a good look at it. Did take a fin to the thigh at one point, but that was my own stupid fault. Luckily it just cut a little, no major gash. Good day overall.

Dog, I was out there this morning, but had to leave late a.m, It was big this morning, easy paddle out, due to long interval and rips. I think I had the best wipeout of my career today. My buddy said I shot straight up in the air?! How is that even possible?

There were some really outstanding kids surfing today. Such a pleasure to see.

Sure wanted to return for incoming tide, but no Bettys to go out with for round two.

Oh! And today I had a close encounter with a shark. I was paddling out and my hand hit something heavy and big that felt slimy and wet-- too murky to see.

Emass-- thanks for the shout out! Sometimes I forget how old I am :)

Beatrice, you sure that was a shark?

There are multiple accounts of shark encounters yesterday on dis forum and people are way too casual about it.

Dont know what else it could be. It was something with substantial weight. I have been bumped before on rare occasions...I Suppose it could be tarpon, they get really big. Not a dolphin cuz they surface as they swim,,,,..maybe Dog has some ideas about it........ Yesterday a guy got bit on his foot at the same beach, had tooth makes to prove it. Lots of bull sharks around since it's an inlet. They can be aggressive.

This guy friend flies low in a powered parachute over SEbastian Inlet. On days where the water is clear enough, he said he sees hundreds off bull sharks hanging just off the beach. He occasionally sees Great White shark as well.

But today with my close encounter, I didn't hear the Jaws music, so I just moved over and stayed in.

Dang. I just missed you. We left around 10:30. When we got there at around 8:00 it was really big, saw one guy get barreled, the waves were pretty clean too. Some of the winter guys were there too, which is always nice. I am so glad for you that you've been able to surf so much this past month.

Way to represent fl.surfdog! For us old school shredders. I made an improptu paddle out there Saturday early am. If I get more notice for the next trip, I'll PM you. I saw one gal out on a longboard and I asked her if she was Betty, and she said there is aboot 7 of us. I asked her if she posted on SI and she said no. She caught a few fast ones. The grom who I was with (they are all socially connected) got a message when we were taking a PBJ sandwich break to head up to Sebastian so off we went. What an awesome swell. Who was the old dude on the longboard with the dark hair and grey beard? He was killing it! Just nailing the rights one after another, making it look soooo easy. He knew how to line up the nuggs. Everyone else was scrapping for the quickies, and he was getting slotted on some long ones.
