    Hey

I am running the Charleston Half Marathon over MLK weekend and am staying in Folly Beach. I'm hoping to catch a wave or two while down there. Will I be able to get away with my 3/2 Suite? I guess I should also pack Butes and Gluvves.

Spank you for advise and cowsill.

Short answer... yes. I have a couple friends that pride themselves on how cold they get and they stay in 3/2s. If it's a quality suite without any holes you should be fine. I prefer a 4/3. You could luck out and get 70 and sunny in Jan.

Lol a 3/2 go for it ... you need a 4/3 buddy. Depends could be in the 40s or high to mid 50s will see.

yup, 3/2 will work for about an hour, or plus if there's sun. i'd put on the booties (don't have gloves), but i saw ppl in there last wknd without em. weather has been going back and forth here, 70 one day - 40 the next

You must be talking about SandDollar. a friendly biker private establishment so close to the beach you can almost smell it. obviously it's a front for the hordes of coke that go in and out of Charleston, all to bought by the local privileged white surfer community

sand dollar is iconic, haven't been in years but in my heyday growing up when you could legally drink beer on Folly...it was the only spot you could buy beer on sunday(blue laws were in effect) when you ran out..made tons of trips from the washout to the Dollar to buy an overpriced 6 pack on sunday, however the last time I was out at night on folly there were more people from foreign countries(eastern Europe, Russia etc) dressed like Mob also looked shifty so wouldn't be surprised if there is a rampant drug trade down there not your local homegrown nickelbag put inside a old plastic cigarette pack holder either

Frost, you've been east of the Cooper too long. Does your neck hurt from holding your nose so high? I'm just playing, F.

Bring the 3/2 & the 4/3, boots & gloves in case of wind chill, maybe even a hat. Water probably will be mid fitties but maybe warm as low 60s and as low as high 40s. So shallow there the air temp greatly influences the water temp as w/ most east coast beaches but you probably knew that. Low country ocean depths are not as great as some others and are more susceptible to the atmosphere so a week of frigid will really drop the temp and of course vice versa. Have seen winter water temps 10 degrees colder south of cape fear than north of. Hope you get some fun ones while down there/here.
