Is there only one "surfer and surf enthusiast" in Folly? That's an uncrowded lineup! Time to pack up the jetski and 12' SUP and move...
I'm loaded up the surfwagon, with boarts and a camera crew, we are headed there to take over the peak brah
myrtle beach is a beast. not for amateurs or kook-mongers. i remember when i was young lad, waxing my board at the Ocean Lakes family resort, running from the rent-a-cops only to get the most prized break on the East Coast. tightening the chin strap on my yellow helmet...
I took a trip to Myrtle once. Took 7 boards, broke 6. One guy got scraped up on the reef so bad he had to get air lifted. I watched jetskis get swamped on the 3rd reef. So epic. This haole named Colin was doing tow-ins. Dude is basically a surf god.
Folly sux! Flat, full of mosquitos and huge sharks. MB rocks! Go there! P.S. roughing it in Mexico to get ready for MB hurricane swell. True dat
I kept calling the Wedge in Newport Beach The Washout this week. ''So are we gonna take a ride down to Orange County and hit up The Washout?''. If that wasn't a senior moment.... I haven't surfed Folly Beach, but I did go to Myrtle Beach when my ex fiance's cousin and her boyfriend had a house down there back in 2009. They were from North Carolina and we went down there. She didn't like this cousin, but just really wanted to spend the week in Myrtle Beach. I brought a bunch of boards also and it was a waste of time. It was like the Hudson River as far as surfing goes, but it was in July, so I'm sure it's better during other parts of the year.
