I have 2 girls 10 and 12! from the time they could walk they have been turning over rocks and logs looking for salamanders, bugs, and I swear they love snakes( gardens) when they go to the beach, which is a lot during the summer here in the northeast. they very rarely touch the water because they are neck deep between two jetty rocks catching crabs! vacation every year in MAINE! I met a 70yo Vietnam vet they takes me to his secret fishing spots! I have goose bumps just thinking about my first bald eagle that I seen last year. I swear we caught 100 small mouth bass that day on the SACO river! went to cast and I spooked this eagle. he or she was 20 feet away! stick your x-box up your arss and get out there! thanks STEAMER for making me go back to that day, GREAT THREAD! peace to all!

Fu(kin A red dog! I dig your enthusiasm man, and you're raising them right, keep that curiosity alive!

Man, I fkn love Maine. Camped on the Saco a couple times, dug the stunted birch mixed with evergreen ground cover...actually saw a little garter snake cruising through the mix there. That's aweosme about the eagle...as Ed said, experiences like that "leave a golden glowing of the mind".

    Happy Happy Ed

“Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. A civilization which destroys what little remains of the wild, the spare, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself.”
    ― Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

BTW, Seldom, have you seen the netflix movie: http://howtochangetheworldmovie.com/
