Thanks MIS, it warms my icy heart when my water brethren are thinking of my canine brethren. California recently added the Gray Wolf to the state ESA, which is huge considering OR-7's recent ventures into northern CA. That may have to be central command for operations into WA and OR one day. And oh my, those ladies seem talented.
So there are these patrols forming out west to monitor the hunts. There's one organized around Yellowstone in Montana, and now one in Wisconsin(the only state where hound hunting of wolves is legal, basically legalized dog fighting, and the hunters get reimbursed for lost hounds). I gotta get out there. But they promise not to interfere, I don't think they'd want me with them. http://fox11online.com/2014/10/15/protesters-to-shadow-wisconsin-wolf-hunters/
literally you could get away with murder. take somebody you hate on a hunting trip and whack them then call it is an accident. 'I heard a noise and saw movement and shot'. In many states you get fined and lose your hunting license.
Yankee, want to join me on a hunting trip? We can go to AI and I can show you some more "secret surf spots" before hand.
Amazing video. The wolf hunting goons will say it's all bs. The elk are fine, they're just smarter. I like Vice. They did an article on the Wolf killing contest in Salmon last year. Yeah, these focks make a contest out of it. I'd behead them all if I could, with a dull knife.
Well, I'm epathetic to all predator species. Thing about coyotes is, despite the intensity with which they've been culled, their numbers stay solid and their range continues to expand. There are several on the golf course near my house, hear them all the time and I love it. I've never seen one with mange, and I feel like they are victimes of media sensationalism. Also, I don't blame them for taking pets, I think pet owners need to be more responsible and it's part of the cycle of life. Also, I can't tell you how many times little dogs have aggressively approached my dog, which makes me wonder if they do the same to yotes. I've been close to them many times with no problems. The thing about wolves is they're so much more pack oriented that hunting can really f**k up pack dynamics and result in more livestock depredation(which accounts for .01% of livestock mortality, USDA statistic)...and the numbers really aren't that high. In Idaho, there's a couple hundred thousand Elk, appx 50-60k mountain lions, and under 600 wolves. Nothing has been so vehemently hated, hunted, poisoned, and trapped as the Gray Wolf. I am against all forms of fur-bearer trapping.
I've seen coyotes in Mt Pleasant and downtown Charleston. There has been some concern here about them eatting pets but I have'nt really heard about them being a huge nusance overall. I think the media overhypes the situation. I get sick of people moving here and then complaining about the deers eating their plants or the woodpecker pecking their house or the alligator in the creek ect.ect. However, I don't have a problem with people who hunt/fish responsibly. I think many hunters/fishermen are more concerned and more informed about the wildlife than the average Joe.
