In Rockledge P.A. there is a surf board sitting at a curb in the freezing cold , all laid out on a snow bank . Someone go rescue that thing and give it a warm and proper home . I would but I'm an hour and a half away . Its on craigslist under free stuff in P.A. Go Save a Board .

I have a freebie garbage board up on my wall right now! My mom saw an elderly woman throwing it out on Long Island and grabbed it for me.

When my mom was a kid, they had an old beat up Hobie in the garage. They used to 'surf' that thing from behind a boat. Who knows why no one 'paddle surfed' it anymore, Grandpa was probably too busy drinking & philandering.

Anyway, when my mom said "I think it's a Hobie," I got excited. I was hoping for a classic longboard. But then she said "It's about 6 or 7 feet long." Okay. Now I was hoping for a single fin.

    I finally lay eyes on the board ... and it's a 7'10 ... poly .... popout ... funboard!

It also needs about 20 dings repaired, a few of which have already been attempted by someone who was blind, high on dust, or both.

Nonetheless, the dings were mostly dry dings, and it was free. I'm gonna fix it up and use it as a lesson board, or give it to my stoner cousin who works at the beach but doesn't surf.

There's quite a few PA posters here (Chavey, Jawn etc). The sad truth is, depending on our NY commute, some of them get to the ocean faster than us ...
