Definitely keep an eye on this upcoming system. Models right now are looking good for a solid South, with winds shifting W on Friday. The Wrightsville area is particularly looking good, with a little less size to the south. Keep checking the forecasts for updates.

    mysterious illness

Considering how reliable swellinfo’s models have been in the past for our area, I think I may develop a mysterious illness Friday and have to miss work :D :D :D

    I'm familiar with that illness.

Keep checking the updates, these coastal systems are known to change here and there in the model predictions.

    please??

you do have the technology to manipulate these weather systems don't you? just make sure ti comes this way. Hey, why your at it, could you warm it up a bit? Bring on the swell.

Yes, I do have the technology to manipulate the weather - I just to choose to make it cold and flat most of the year :)

The swell is looking a little more S/SW with the latest models, but still looking fun for friday for the east facers (with west winds).

when will the wind go north for us south facing beaches?

as it stands now, it looks like south facers may have to wait until saturday for NW winds, and cleaner, faded leftovers.

Sometimes the south facers get it good, sometimes its the west facing breaks.
    Up for a drive?

sorry, no chance for a snow day... but perhaps you should go with breyn119's routine, and conjure up a serious illness.

What do you all use to calculate the water temps?...all the other forcasters have way down in the low fifties for WB and CB..just curious.

ya, latest models shifted that low off to the east a bit... showing northerly winds in the early am, then shifting west. Its tough, when those lows are parked so close... So, Emerald Isle/Atlantic beach area could see some clean stuff for the early a.m., then take a drive south for midday WB !

As I said in the first post, the models are super fickle with these lows that skirt right up the coast, so its def. wise to keep checking the updates.

    FYI - wave maps/hourly winds are updated at approx. 12:45am, 6:45am, 12:45pm, 6:45pm plus/minus 15minutes.

nearshore wind maps are updated about an hour earlier

looks like the swell will fill in through the morning hours and peak around the midday low tide.

Surfed Pawleys Island, SC this mourning at high tide... Sets were stomach to shoulder high with looooooong fun walls. A little chilly out there but it was undoubtedly worth getting wet for! Had it been a little warmer I would have stayed and waited for the tide to fall a little; I think it is going to get pretty good here in the next hr or so. Get on it if you can!
