Am I allowed to reply to this? I ask because I am new, and also because I am drinking white wine. But it's good stuff...$8/bottle with a coupon. I need a life.
My friend setup a tasting of Wild Turkey 8yr/101. Bottles were in order from 1985-1996, with a bottle from each year. It is amazing how different a lot of them were, being they are the same bottle bottle of bourbon. You could really taste the transition between the older "dusty" flavor profile, and the more current spicy profile with less oak influence. Not really surprising, since the bottle lost it's 8yr age statement along the way, and WT moved from using cypress tanks to stainless. I love hosting and attending tastings of whatever. It's even more fun when it's blind, because you find things you like, that aren't expensive, and vice versa.
Bacardi Oakheart. Two cubes. Sitting on the lower deck right by the dunes. Perfect night. Clear skies. Looking at the Milky Way and listening to the waves. Offshore winds tomorrow. Dawn patrol will be in effect.
