has anybody ever went oldskool in the winter, and surfed with a 3/2 with a springsuit over it and some dishwashing gloves rubberband' to ur wrists?i never have but heard from a few, they say it works lol
I can imagine! Respect to youse guys who go out in it day in and day out though, no BS, that takes commitment for sure.
I can u straight up dsup, its really not that bad.if it was, nobody would surf.the wetsuites really keep u warm.its always warmer in the water than it is on land.im in nj and the lowest iv seen it dip down to was 35 degrees.the boys up north and in nova scotia are the real daredevils, but mid atlantic its not bad
^^^ I believe you, with the right equipment anything is possible. People surf in Alaska for god sakes.
I thought with your name that might be the case...My mothers side of the family was all born and raised in Sicily. I've been over twice to visit relatives/sight see. Its a beautiful island. Fish, pasta and pizza the likes of you will never taste in this country. And yeah...that skin is a lifesaver. I'm truly lazy/forgetful about blocking up, but haven't had a sunburn since I was a kid.
Great advice and tips, thanks guys!! Clown, that's the hard part right now, getting that shoulder started and to the first elbow. I am very excited about trying in this in 25 degree weather! Ha ha. The bench with the shower do s sounds nice
The elbow trick you outlined is the only way I can get out of my suit. For me it helps to start by pulling the hood off and then I kind of grab the suit around my mid section, and just pull the whole suit down a bit, so the top is stretched tighter and the bottom starting to bunch. Somehow, that helps me get the suit pulled down over my elbow. Almost as if the tension of the whole suit makes it easier. Once I get the suit locked on my elbow, it's easy from there. Separated my shoulder the last week of Oct and started surfing before it was completely healed. Couldn't get the suite down over my elbow for like 10 min, just hurt too bad. Eventually tried to get out without pulling it over my elbow first, and got totally stuck somehow with my hand in the sleeve. The whole thing was awful. Many years ago my friend got diahrea suddenly. Made it back to the car, but just couldn't get the winter suit off fast enough. Talk a bout a bad time taking your suit off.
I had a Rip Curl front zip with built in hood. I'd fill a gallon jug with scalding water to help get out. It would be mildly warm by the time I got out.
