I mean, if I have to pee that bad, I'll go in my suit, but I try not to

so... to pee or not to pee in your wetsuite is not the question:

BUT does peeing in your wetsuite make you colder in the long run.

i think most surfers would say that it helps you stay warm, but i think its counter productive... its warm at first but then gets cold in like 45min... colder then normal

Ived used vaseline for years. Really makes a difference with the wind. Also wear a neophrene hoddie that covers more of my face, cheeks, inside the hoodie. Yeh, the worst is the walk back to the car and then taking off the suit. Solar shower with hot water makes a huge difference.

yes peeing in the suit does heat things up but in my drylock suit the water stays there after. So thats a bit bothersome. Prefer not to pee in the winter.

i put on SPF 50 (zinka). That doesnt stop frostbite but i like the idea of having a barrier between the air and my skin. Havent tried vaseline yet since i dont like the thought of having that crap on my face

Also, i wonder if peeing has any detrimental effect on your suit besides it smelling bad. I do it anyway but i rinse my suits out like crazy in the shower.

vaseline dissolves neoprene over time. never used it. plus, it makes a slippery mess of everything. just keep moving while you're in the water. you're not gonna get frostbite unless you really push the envelope. you'll get a little wind burn and pudding face, but that's usually about it. my hands get cold almost instantly this time of year, then my body adjusts, and I'm good for an hour and a half when it's freezing. once i can't feel my dawgs or my fingers that well and it effects my surfing, i'm out. unless it's perfect, then i get one/two/three more. from that point forward, surfing is miserable. drive home in your wetsuit if possible. if you change in the street on a cold day after a surf, that's the worst kinda cold in my opinion.

the initial first paddle out is the most important time to pee in ur suit.once ur in and that waters warming up in ur suit u are good,...until u have to go under.i always thought that peeing stuff was bs when I first started, but then my old boss I was working for at the time who was "allegedly" some surf guru legend lol, guys in his 60s so I figure anything he says is worth keeping said u piss in ur suite then pull ur bungee hood cord and paddle out.wetsuits were a lot different I imagine 30 years ago.i hate cold water so I want to be as warm as possible.

then u just rinse the suit afterwards,i never "not" rinse my suit regardless of season.salt water is ba ba ba ba baaaad

So I'm thinking that since the suite of a few years ago where not sealed as well as the suite nowadays... So years ago I remember peeing and it would wash out cause fresh salt Water would be slowly washing thru... Seeping through seams and the material. But now if I don't pee I don't really even get wet in my suite so I'm thinking the pee gets cold and sits in your boot and gets cold after an hour and I'm Colder then normally would be. I have always been a fan of turning on the heater right away but the past few years I have been rethinking my heater theory and wonder if anyone else notices.. Thanks for your input bro!
