Same shiz happened to me a few years ago. My neck hyperextended so much that my head slammed my shoulder. My face looked like I got seriously jumped. I was dazed. I was lucky.

happens to pretty much everybody at least once in their surf life. I slammed the sand bar right on my mouth: fat lip, strawberry chin.

Dang, Tractor! I love me some bodysurfin. Almost always just me. No fins, trays, etc. I prefer going head first, arms to my sides, but... On little waves (waist) I feel safe head first. Bigger, I get too nervous about getting drilled into the bottom head first and paralyzed. Usually throw an arm out front just in case of stuff like that.

    Gaff has good advice.

Hey Gaff... You comin back to Corpus when Danny parks in the Carribbean (see that tread)?

My homie took one of his boys out on a 2 foot day this summre...my spot throws, fo realz, little old 2 ft windswell will break hard enough there to create backwash. Anyway, it was dudes first time trying surf riding, and his head became well acquainted with the sandbar...he had a rasburr like tou do tractor, came up all rattled.

Sheldonne, I suppose they didn't do a propre sand recon beforehand, huh? At least he didn't take him out in 10 ft VAS next to the rocks like EMazz did with his newb.

Valhallalla, indeed, they neglected to conduct propre sand reconne, and that boy paid the price. But yes, it could've been much worse had they done the Emass sesh stylee.

Emass had proper sand recon. He was lacking in rock recon technique. Big difference. Very important
