There are roughly 1000 troops over there still. 250 of which were sent just last month. I know that is next to nothing compared to where we were 10 years ago, but when ever there is activity over there, more men and women will be sent, unfortunately. There are still going to be 10,000 in Afghanistan at the end of this year supposedly, leading to a "full withdraw" by the end of 2016. But on record, the US has been "fully withdrawn" from Iraq since 2011. So, I guess completely vacating an area generally means leaving 1,000 or so there. I don't believe in sacrificing any of our troops lives being over there, but it is what it is. We will have to see what the Obama administration will do. I don't think it's a good idea to start air striking them, stirring up the hornets nest. At some point, they will have to deal with their own region and fight their own battles. I just hope we left them with enough resources to defend themselves. Here is a direct quote from the ISIS from cnn.com today: "Don't be cowards and attack us with drones," he said. "Instead send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq. We will humiliate them everywhere."

In some ways radical Islam doesn't have **** on radical Christianity from back in the day...only thing is Christians have (kinda) got over it and became less violent and missionary oriented. Hopefully technology will help (once they get over the noise) all the potential jihadists see that we are all one on one little rock. Fighting will persist but mainly between idiots. Self sufficiency should be the goal here. You think gas is high? Drive less, heat/cool better. In some ways, aside of raise in transportation prices, etc, I wish gas was higher- the shift should be made sooner rather than later. I think people are going to have to be dragged into responsible energy consumption kicking and screaming but with population on the raise and climate warmer, it will have to happen.
