Not trying to stereotype here, but one of the nastiest individuals I ever encountered while surfing was this old butch lady in San Diego... She was always running her mouth to people. Cussing at people. Looked like a man. Tried to act like a man. She either loved women, or was such a wretched you know what that no one on earth would spend any time with her, man or woman. She was just terrible... But yeah, she for sure looked like she loved the ladies.

But I don't think you could really tell in general if anyone out there is gay. Just off the numbers, yeah sure. I am sure there are tons of people I surfed with in the past that were gay. Especially in CA. With hundreds of thousands of surfers, I am sure a lot of people were gay. The gay community is usually into fitness and keeping in good physical order, so I could see why they would really enjoy surfing like anyone else would...

And come on guys, if you were a gay dude, why wouldn't you want to hang out in the lineup? Bunch of dudes wearing tight rubber suits all winter, then in the summer wearing just trunks. That must be a pretty ideal situation if you know what I mean...

I mean, lets be honest to the rest of the "normal world" us surfers all probably look silly in our tight suits, getting naked in the parking lots with towels on... Haha. Kinda funny. I mean, we look like a pack of wanna be super heros in tights walking out to the beach.

I felt sorry for the guy who rented umbrellas at Rehoboth Beach. He was a college kid and was getting hit on all day long by men and women who were all too old for him:)

Hardest part bout riding a wavestorm is telling your parent you're gay.
