ive done it too many times, just sitting there watching the cams knowing i cant go out. now i wont even look at them, cuz like you said it is just torture. its the worst when you know you can get out after work and you start watching the cams at 8 am and its perfect all morning, and then by the afternoon its crapped out.
I think it may have been bigger at a couple spots further north. Even within a few miles there was a lot of variation in size. I checked a few spots on the way home just to see, and it was significantly smaller a couple towns down the road. I'm not going to start a pi$$ing match about wave size, because it doesn't really matter, but it was well overhead where I was. Bigger than 5-7 ft. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to calling size, but there were some pretty heavy bombs. The buoys were reading something like 9 or 10' @ 11 sec. for a few hours. That's a lot of juice. But whatever we want to call the size... it was good! My only complaint is that I wished I could have gotten out earlier.
Some bombs for sure. I was so out of shape because of that flat spell. the current really cut into my wave count. I did get a few juicy tubes though was stoked to rock my new 5/4 mutant though
many of us went out these past two days and were totally humbled. it was big and totally serious out there. world class size and power. not a pleasant experience for me. New Jersey surf and surfers deserve more respect,though,as a lot of guys were getting totally barrelled and ripping it to shreds. however,most of us were not.
