It is estimated that Shaun White's net worth is somewhere around 20 million dollars. He is now looking to qualify for the WSL. This means mo money in endorsments down the road. The world of surfing is a money magnet and will continue to grow as long as board sports remain popular.
Crazy to think how far this thing has gone. With use of the Slater pools he will have 540's wired in no time.
Good on you " flying Tomato"

Sean once quoted, surfing is like skiing in a avalanche!

Ha!...and what are the chances for us main-streamers to experience that?
Guess we'll have to take his word on that one.

I wouldn't doubt he's a good surfer. I'm pretty sure he lives in CA and surfs allot. I'm not really i just think i heard that somewhere. Anyway, how many of you think he'll make the tour regardless of his skill? Just as a scheme to get a bigger audience

To get to a competitive level in all conditions and under pressure will definitley take dedication focus and drive which no doubt he has; but the question is at what level does he want to achieve? Is he looking to put another notch in his belt and collect a check?
    Should be interesting and entertaining.

Great Photoshop pics of him getting tubed and making goo goo eyes at Kelly.

If this guy were good enough to be on the Tour, don't you think we all would have seen him in action at some point?

The dude def surfs a good bit. I remember that from years ago, or whenever winter xgames gets underway and they do some doc on him. I do remember him being pretty good as far as not fearing OH waves, but he didn't have much in his bag as far as tricks (did see aerials, Barry). Tomato prob just realized that surfers get laid more than snowbunnies and he's on his last leg of trying to get into that. He's dedicated for sure, i recall him freezing his nutz for minutes at a time to prepare for the icy conditions or getting in shape or whatever stuff that i don't call training per se. I don't think he'll crack the top 100 tho, prob more btwn the 200-300 range in ranking if he goes balls deep in training at the wave pool. but honestly, f that guy -he's gotten real uptight as of lately with competitions - more of a douchen berry nowadays

As I have stated way before, snowboarding lost its following, accentuated when it was included in the Olympics. It was already a past fad. That is why White is moving over.
Surfing is joining the Olympics I am told (never saw that in print anywhere). That is good. once the kids see how lame surfing really is, they will move on to something else as well. Maybe extreme Canasta will be their next activity........

I met him while I was working for Burton back in 2008. Major douche.

Strongly doubt he'll make the dream tour. I'll be surprised if he makes any heats in the QS. He does have the means to surf all day every day though, so we'll see.

Prob giving up the halfpipe because of the extreme danger of breaking yourself for good. Like to see him at chopes though....

This could be a 9/12 moment but I don't see why it can't happen for him. He's pretty much conquered all the other board sports and with the use of a wave pool will only give him the venue to up his game. Times are a changing and anything is possible nowadays, so it seems.
