If I am glassing a board and want to draw an image with some writing. What is the best material to use to write on? Also what should I use to draw/write with so that the resin does not mess it up while glassing? Is there a special method or any other things I should know while doing this? Thanks for the help.
disclaimer.....dont do it you lack the experience.... its going to look sloppy your going to be disappointed regardless of your art ability. that being said do any art work before the hot coat . air brush is the best option or rice paper some clip art . picasso pens work to, www.swaylocks.com best board building site dont do it
You can draw right on the finished blank. water-based acrylic paint or water-based paint pens (Posca is a good brand) wont run when galssed with Poly or Epoxy Resin. Another option would be to buy a sheet of rice paper from an art store, draw on that, then when you glass the board the rice paper turns clear when soaked with resin leaving just the art. You can put the rice paper under the glass (right on the blank), or between the glass and hoat coat. I've never tried drawing on rice paper...it might not be the easist paper in the world to draw on - its kind of flimsy. Also you could just glass and hotcoat the board, then draw on the outside of the sanded hoatcoat and protect the art with some clear coat. If you arent sure of your ability, this is the safest way to do it. Dont like it? Sand it off.
