I ain't too up on the Tesla deal, but regarding Mr Musk...

I do like his Space-X company. He lands rockets back on the ground. Upright. Like in them super old timey black and white pictures with the strings and sh!t. They said that could never be done. Hell, he lands em on freakin robot ships.

While I still miss the old NASA days, I hope he's as successful with humans on board.

    He likes Monty Python too.

That's worth a few brownie points.

Not sure where he falls regarding bunnies.

I just don't understand why Donald Trump, a billionaire that made his money selling to the 1%, can be the common mans champion, but Elon Musk can't. Elon's end game is being able to sell solar cars and homes to the common man, he just has a lot of work to do to get there. DT has always and will always sell luxury products, and I don't don't hold it against him, that's his niche.

I would consider filing for bankruptcy 4 times an equivalent evil as taking federal subsidies. So why champion one and not the other, Archy?

SpaceX is the case in point of "private sector over public sector." WTF was NASA doing with all that cash the past 40 years?! Wasting our money on near Earth orbit crap, such a pity.

What, are you Musk's PR flack or you just wanna give him a humjob....? lol

Dude, you can't be serious. Musk's 'business empire' exists solely due to US govt tax breaks. California politicians couldn't open the public coffers fast enough for TSLA. That production facility in Cali....? Musk didn't pay a dime for that. Does he pay taxes....? No - - justified by idiot pols as 'jobs for the people.'

How about 4.9 bln paid out to Musk's shiiiiit show from the left-wing idiots who lead us. Any company getting $4.9 bln in handouts of the people's money would do just fine. And because Spacex is a privately held company, Musk isn't required to report financial performance - - and he doesn't.

Who do you think funds Spacex? You think that's some Magic Elon Pocket Change Fund? No. It's taxpayer dollars in the form of contracts given to Spacex from NASA & US Air Force & other federal agencies. Over $7 bln & climbing.

Nevada shelled out $1.3 bln in taxpayer money to build TSLA's battery factory. And guess who the lead negotiator for TSLA is....? Diarmuid O'Connell, a former State Department official. As well, TSLA has already secured a commitment of $126 million in California subsidies to TSLA subsidiaries who are developing energy storage technology.

BTW, TSLA still hasn't had a profitable quarter since inception. That's one stock that I won't short, but when it falls, and it's gonna fall very hard, it's gonna leave a crater the size of Hillary Clinton's death list.

    Hey now.

Don't you be hatin on the old NASA. Where I grew up in Cape Canaveral, a lot of our parents helped put Neil Armstrong on the moon. Those dudes were the real deal. Chuck Yeager didn't play participation trophies, homie.

Lots of things NASA did since then allowed the folks like Space-X to do what they're doing today. I do wish the old NASA no nonsense kickass spirit could return.

I ain't against private companies in the outer space biz, but let's be careful what we're gettin into here. Space flight ain't no joke.

And DosXX, George Carlin always nails it.

Because Musk wants to impose a tax that is part of a Global Communistic system.
Trump just did away with that.
That's why Musk left the WH all butt hurt.
Hey Mark Zuckerberg wants to bring world peace to the average man. He's a good guy. Right?

Talking a lot for a guy who won't short it. Put your money where your mouth is, no?

I am well aware TSLA hasn't seen a profit since inception, I explained this earlier, it's called hyper-growth.

As far as the factory, the state of Nevada (not federal, so unless you are a resident of Nevada you paid $0) kicked in $1.3 billion of the $5 billion cost. So Elon is kicking in quite a bit.

The other $3.6 billion is extrapolated over the past 7 years, not just the past year. If you do the math, their subsidies coincide nicely with companies like Lockheed Martin, GE, Shell and Disney. In fact, in the past 2 fiscal years they haven't even ranked top 10 in corporate subsidy deals. Lockheed Martin has been top 5 on that list 7 out of the past 10 years. I am no fan of subsidies; however, unless you personally penalize the rest of those corporations. Big government has made themselves part of big business and until that changes, condemning certain people for doing it while not condemning others only shows partisanship.

SpaceX may be private, but uncle sam has to disclose subsidy agreements and I haven't seen one in 5 years. They work off of government contracts, yes; but, would you rather see us continue to overpay to use Russian and Euro trash rocket like we have been? I am a firm believer SpaceX is the prime example that we should get the government out of some industries. To save the taxpayer money and because the private sector is far more efficient at most things.

I'm not his PR guy, nor do I want give him a hum job. I just think 30 years from now Tesla's market cap will be over a trillion dollars and these pennies in subsidies will be laughed at. But that's just what I am betting on.

Yankee, my real question is....got any hot stock tips?? Got some big earnings reports coming this month...

Global Communistic system? No, I would concede that his motivation for the Carbon Tax probably has something to do with his products. That's why he left all butt hurt.

So that one fact alone makes Trump a champion and Elon some evil left wing globalist monster? Put aside the points I made before I guess.

Wow Archy, talk about a one issue voter...

I have a brother, he has been living off my Mom for years, and he is a big Trump fan, I don't get it. I am very confused why he is such a hero to a bunch of non corporate folk, who own nothing, pay no taxes, have no real responsibilities, they must be drinking the Trumpaide. Soon they will be building a Trumpworld wavepool that will make Kelly's look totallly lamo. Then they will wake up 4 years from now,and be living in tents.

Oh BTW, when Obama was elected, did they come and take your guns. When he was re elected, did they come and take your guns. No! But the prices sure went up. Suckers!

    Is probably?
    C'mon kyle.
You don't think he knows the political/economical ramifications of carbon taxes?

And SissySurCawk nice generalization on the Trump voter.
I guess that makes you a black woman with 5 kids on welfare.

Obama couldn't get the gun regs through the house and if you haven't noticed the price of food has gone up too.

The same smart people that fooled the moronic public into thinking smoking wasn't dangerous are the same guys saying climate change is fake. Thorw in a good story like those in the science community are just in it for the money and people like archy jump right on it. Oh yeah find a slob scape goat like Gore and it is a full on fry cook revolt.

This is why college will always be important, you learn critical thinking. Much in demand on this forum.

This is either the most ironic post i have seen in some time or garbage.

big tobacco and climate scientists have nothing to do with one another. People being in it for the money isn't a good story, it's an essential core motivation for most politicial movements, including "scientific research" a half century ago that concluded tobacco is just fine for you. You HAVE to be suspicious about motives when there is so much grant money out there for CC research. Questioning the underlying causes of scientific theories is part of that "critical thinking" you advocate, but apparently don't practice.
