Did anybody realize that it was going to be head high today? Anyways, no predictions were made for the type of swell that hit today and thank got I was on it for a training session with my boys. Needless to say, we threw our paddleboards down in the sand, ran to get a stubby, and were on it. Caught everyone off guard, but the currents kept the lineups free for takeoff. Swellinfo, did you know this was going to happen??? hahahaha! ALSO, it was SOLID on thursday and AC was absolutley perfect. Chest to shoulder and NO ONE OUT. What are these swells coming from and HOW come no one is picking them up???? just busting your balls man. you have called thousands for me over the years, but these last two slipped by. and please, keep up the work. dude, pr?
Pretty surprised that you said Jersey was head high. Buoy 44009 was showing swell around 3ft, 7secs from the S/SW all day. A very quick moving system moved through today, and sometimes when these systems along the coast take a slightly different path than models are predicting, it can easily result in more or less fetch directed toward a particular area... It looks like you saw some bigger pulses of S swells. Was this showing as South wind swell or more of a ground swell? Swellinfo was calling for small ground swells over the past few days. Were were talking about Thursdays swell in the previous thread - "E ground swell showing". A brief pulse of waist to chest E ground swell made it through, and then was gone just as quickly. I dont know if you noticed, but Swellinfo timeplots were calling for small(1ft) 15 second period E swell for today. I'm wondering if some of these pulses were sneaking past the radar and bigger than predicted. It seems more likely, however, that it was the S swell kicked up from the frontal system.
Waves? Thursday was DO NORTH. Sunday was very east. Both days were 6-8 minutes inbetween sets. Definatley LPGS both days. Yesterday had no traces of windswell. Long lines coming from deep. SOUTH BETHANY, I grew up surfing all over bethany and oc. One thing you can count on is that it is quite possibly the worst place to be a surfer. Every where around delware an ocmd can get bigger and better more often. I love bethany, ss, sb, oc, teaque, but it really sucks for surfing comparative to jersey. The only thing that delaware is good for is small summer swells. The shore break gives our little swells more punch then the gradual shelfs in jersey. We often surf more then jersey in the summer cause theres a bit more punch in the shorey and the swells tend to run very south which is good for our beaches angle. But all and all-its gets better a lot more often in jersey. So move if you want to surf more. sorry!
must have been some of those long period E swells sneaking through. These weren't showing on any of the buoys tho... Could have been masked by the dominant wave energy form the S wind swell.
yeah thursday was LPGS here too....and like u said north and with long waits but the sets were juicy. sunday was wind swell down here nothing more. BTW, i knew delmarva is surrounded by better surf but thanks for mentioning it
