Going on a surf trip with some friends and was thinking of buying a go pro to document trip and surf. Was thinking bunch of guys chip in to buy, we use it for trip, then play a game of cards at end and winner keeps it. Questions are: How easy is it to switch from board to board? How much in accessories are needed for surf trip (thinking of getting hero 4)? Is it even worth it? Not sure if it's just cool for first few days. What are your thoughts?
Dude. Dude. Play the card game before you go, and make the loser buy the go pro. Jeez....do I have to also plan the trip for you?
GoPro Buy a Go Pro, from Costco. Get the extras on line from China. Attach the big yellow float to the camera, they sink like a rock. Get your ego shots. Yes, I have one, lost one at Witches Rock, CR, with the orange float. Do the trip, return Go Pro to Costco for full refund. Play poker for the one who pays for the board bags!
If nat geo can attach fin cams to sharks fins.... Can douchebags attach cams to surfboard fins? Ultimate footy braw
Saw a teenager paddle out the other day with a Costco board and a gopro on the front. Figured ah whatever he's having his fun, let it be. Friggin kid got in front of me nearly every wave for a half hour. He paddle for, and missed or fell every time. I finally got tired of it, crossed behind him and pushed his tail sideways. He looked back in terror like a shark had bit him. Next thing I know he's on the beach sitting with his board on his lap watching. He never paddled back out. Didn't want to ruin his day but damn he was ruining mine. Funny thing is when he gets home to watch his footage he will see that it was me not a shark, lol.
Save your money. Buy one of these or something similar and take turns shooting pictures. You will do a way better job of documenting your trip with a superzoom camera than you ever will with a goPro. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...BXtRWxd4HkaAmyQ8P8HAQ&is=REG&m=Y&A=details&Q= A couple pics I've taken with the camera at the link above. Nikon now has one that blows my camera away.
Instead of a GoPro, mount a .357 Magnum to the nose of your board. Aim to rider. Before paddling out, load gun. While paddling out, pull trigger.
This behavior is all to common when it comes to novice surfers, and gopros. I dealt with it Monday, and Tuesday, at different locations with different dudes. In both cases I chose my own peak, and the perps decided to paddle right up my butt and compete for waves. Both dudes had mouth mounts. Both dudes were clueless. Both dudes couldn't catch waves. Both dudes could barely stand up. Both dudes ended up just being in the way. Both dudes were the cause of good waves going unridden. I wonder how the footage came out.
Here is the Nikon. Be sure to scroll down and watch the video. http://www.adorama.com/INKCPP900B.h...69BX5pHNC9kGIlSzYtIkIgZbSstNVwG2KAaAiw98P8HAQ
95% of the peeps with gopros here should be filming other peeps who can actually surf not themselves. Nice pics CJ
^^ Exactly...why take a surf trip to some perfect wave, point a board mounted fish eye lense right at your face, and get footage that looks exactly the same as 3 foot shorepound.
I don't get why every barney out there has to have a gopro. Do you really want to facebook how bad you suck at surfing to the whole world?
