GoPro Wave Shrinkage

    I knew the GoPro made waves look smaller, but because I had nothing else to do, I took a GoPro pic in front of my 5'6 bookshelf. It came just about up to my waist (I'm 6' tall). Good thing I was fully clothed, it really shrinks things.

    that's what happens with wide angle lens... in order to fit more into the frame, it has to shrink things that are further away. The wider the angle, the more of the affect.

    Oo dang that's some serious stuff. Now anyone that posts a vid with a go pro needs a wave size disclaimer :p

    Isn't that just perspective? Those pics? I mean, I know what you mean with the waves, The vid of Mark Healy surfing 40 foot Mav's looked like a 10 footer.

    I agree that just looks like prospective. I bet it would do the same thing with almost any camera

    It all depends on the perspective. As a kid my friends and I filmed a lot of our skateboarding using a fisheye lens (what makes the curvature and allows more image to fit into the picture.) At the right angle, a go pro can make a small wave look huge.
