There ARE a lot of variables... no steadfast rule.

For me, I think of it more as showing some restraint... some self control... rather than who "deserves" what. If you just got a wave and you paddle back out, you go to the back of the line. Even though you might want to paddle for everything that moves, you need to show some restraint. Let next guy have a shot.

But if a peak comes, and it's shifted over, and he's not paddling over to get it, I just go. I'm not going to snake him, but I will put in the effort if he's not going to. He can shoulder hop the next one behind it, but if he's not taking the peak, I am.

Totally agree. Some guys paddle out and just take everything instead of waiting their turn. I've done it too especially pending whos in the water and whos the most experienced or having the better day. Sometimes I'm on fire and just rocking. I like sharing a wave so everyone has fun. When someone watches me catch a good wave they often go for my spot so if it happens too many times I'll psych them out and pretend to paddle. They'll follow and totally miss the better wave coming in. I'll turn and get the good one. Works everytime. Ha ha!

I live, 1/2 block from beach, and am usually 1 of first out, and if I had a long night and wake up late and already a crowd I move down cause usually other jetty's empty, just can't understand why others don't do same makes sense to me to move down. So no I don't congregate, learn some reading comprehension.

and me gettin the longboard out was more just frustration, i mean I've tried different spots, albeit within walking distance, but it seems if a couple of ppl are out the hoards are soon to follow so yeah I'm a little tired of having to pack up and move down because apparently if 3 guys are on it, it must be the best wave so hey lets all paddle out here! But its fall and the 5/4, hoods, n bootys, not too far out and it'll be just me and the rest of the crazies who like there water and waves frigid, so was just getting my summer *****in out. It'll be all good soon enough!!
