The worst offenders for snaking around these parts are usually really good young shortboarders, not people who are learning or not very good. Let me be clear that there are good shortboarders that don't drop in obviously, but some do. I don't understand why people are purposefully dropping in. I totally get being stuck inside or blowing a wave or sitting too far inside and unable to get out of the way of a surfer on an outside wave resulting in a collision, but just snaking people is selfish b.s. There's no single peak at beach break so guys are paddling out all over the place. How frustrating! Everyone has blown a wave. When there's over a 100 guys you're going to be people running into each other. I've seen people running into each other when there's 10 guys out on one peak. It's kind of strange how some surfers can't seem to make a turn to avoid someone. It's not like they're in a barrel! It's like they're stuck on railroad tracks.
never surf eastern r.i. except when i first learned as a kid or do an occasional ruggles sesh when its big. Western R.I is where its at, rather drive up to New Hampshire or the cape then pay that ****ty toll bridge for some ****ty overcrowded beach breaks.
