I'm eager to hear RoyBuoy's response. This could be surf-related Conspiracy of the Year come Swellie time. As much as the haters are ready to feed off this one, I think there's an air of disappointment if it is in fact a let down. Seems even the pessimists had hope here. Metric issue of a few centremetres for your American neighbours, Roy?
I had hope for this and I don't even care too much abou those kinds of fins. Man one really needs a sense of humour to get through life sometimes.
This is correct. sisurfdogg is clearly in league with Randy Rarrick and simply trying to destroy the Gnome's rep!
Why not just sand the pin down? I'm not on the roy bandwagon, but this seems like an easily solvable issue. I've had to sand brand new futures down a little bit to fit in the box. No biggie.
If I try to file the metal pins down (they are not too long, they are too wide in diameter) IMO, I would need a fine dremmel and a vise that won't damage the fin. Any volunteers? I'll put it in the mail tomorrow.
While skeptical, yet optimistic... dang manufacturing bugs...
Get rid of your broken board and get a real board. Any proper board would have a fin box that the the Roy Stuart Gull Wing BLEF fits in.
just googled blef and this came up..... blef Not very exciting Eh... so so or feh She has some nice bombs but her ass is blef. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=blef
"As (insert name here) furiously buggered the sheep, he felt a climax coming on. He instantly pulled out and bleffed all over the Ovis's luxurious fleece."
It's not the pin, you'll need to sand a bit off the base of the tab and the radius around the pin, we leave a little extra as boxes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Roger that. I'll give it a whack and report back tomorrow. NEster overhead chunks too big to longboard for a week, that will give me time to get the fin in the box. Maybe some sheep hair and lube will do the trick.
Translation: "gnome QA in one-off production isn't worth sheep shiiiiite & thus we have no idea what the customers will actually receive in terms of finished product."
Between work, family and surf, and I'm finish sanding a longboard at this time, I will eventually get around to playing with the fin to get it sanded down or milled so it will fit a standard fin box. Until then, refer all questions to Randy Rarrick.
