This is why I said I felt like I have grown from this. I am learning too. Sometimes I am stubborn and have had bad luck in the past trying to force things to work, without proper knowledge. Frustration sets in. Hence all the tai chi. Maybe two lifetimes and it will work. Right now it is very blown out and I have work all day tomorrow, main office visit down south in the Mouth of the Rat (Boca Raton), but Saturday time and conditions permitting I will give it a fair test drive, even if it is a bit bumpy out there. I just want an hour or so to play with it. In the meantime, I showed it to a friend and he wanted to sharpen it so I could create carnage but he's a whacko. I promise to post as soon as I can try it out in earnest. Cheers!
I have to say, now that it is installed in the fin box, the BLEF Gull Wing has lots of flex side to side and twisty flex at the tip. I can envision what Roy's angle of attack references allude to, as far as positive hold and decreased drag are concerned, and am kind of anxious to take it out to see how it works in good and crappy conditions.
This is shaping up to be 'Randy Rarick, The Fin Chronicles' or The South Cackalacky Steve Ghost 'Test Drive' f. chrome dome
Roy is shipping included in the pricetag of your boards? Also do the boards come with tags to prove they are new?
Roy you said there was no info about the difference in fin boxes until now. Like you discovered something. Yet you post a link to a forum where someone says there's a difference......now I get why you posted that, to show that having to sand/shim a fin is normal. And I agree with you. BUT mentioning the difference in fin boxes, instead of blowing up, would of been the way to respond. I'm not hating on you or starting an argument. I knew nothing about you until this thread. As a potential customer, I would never buy anything from you just because of the way you've responded. I know you don't care. I'm just one person right? But I'm sure others feel this way. And you can say you don't care what people think, but if your a business man than you care how your potential customers perceive you. Period. I know you responded calmly at first suggesting sanding the fin. But when provoked, you acted like a child. Next time it might just be better to respond with info (such as the difference in fin boxes), you'd probably get more respect that way. Then again why would a business man want his customers to respect him

Man, this thread has gone to SH¡t. Everyone is to blame.

Whatev. I'm back from Puerto Rico. we got some waves at the end of last week and a little after. I stayed at domes and Maria's. It was working better up north but we had friends in rincon so we didn't travel much. I too had the problem getting the center find in and didn't have any sandpaper so I can't comment on the white center fin. I did get to play with the sidebites though.

I tried to keep all things constant with center fin placement but I can say I felt a little more speed and my turns were easier. With that being said, this is was during the best hour of the best day of waves and I was already confident with the board. Lots of quick drop into a bottom turn and out waves. Some where I could get a couple carving turns in and a \"folly beach coverup\" here and there. I made a late drop and a wave took my lunch money and the fin took some skin.

I guess everything said about them could be taken as true. I took them off after that session and got some piña coladas at calypso. I was let down the center fin didn't fit but I imagine it would be very pivoty and drivey. Based on how the board rode with the side bites I'd place the center fin farther back than usual.

Other notes: mar azul blows. Their selection of board is embarrassing and their general character was lacking. Green room had great boards and were great to deal with. They're the same guys as in Wilmington. Probably gonna get my next new board from them in 2019 or so.
Actually I responded with the correct and relevant information i.e. sand a bit off the fin base immediately, but was immediately howled down by the trolls and by surfdog ( who to hus credit apologised. I can tell you another thing.. in my 20 plus years of experience selling surfing products no customer has ever called me megalomaniac, mentally ill, a liar, a douchebag, an asshole, a crappy fin maker, a sheep f*cker, or any of the other endless insults posted here by apparently respected members..... and guess what? ... none of them are customers. if in the unlikely event that a customer ever sends me endless emails with such abuse i will no doubt respond with 'F*ck you' or words to that effect. Quite frankly if you think that my behavious is childish then it is interesting that you don't mention the endless abuse which prompted my simple retort. Regarding the fin box differences i discovered one thread on a forum using a different bset of search keywords and posted it up. you'll notice that none of the people on that thread were outraged by the slight differences in fit between boxes and fins. Your post reveals a lack of consistency.
This (clemson)^ is a review of gnome's fins....? Ya gotta be kidding me. Well. This is what happens, gnome, when you punt your hyped crapola product to doofus drunks like clemmie. Although you are, gnome, and will always be, an overrated, self-indulgent, mutton ass chewing, narcissistic loon from an island of orange suits & white helmets.
Can this out the whole fins first or you're a kook conversation to bed? There are obviously bigger problems.
