Gotcha, I just skimmed it so I must of missed that. I bet a 7ft single rips too, idk I'll surf anything that floats
idgaf what people like to ride tbh but, i see guys on these boards .......and what the author of the article says seems spot on to me
I get what you're saying. I like the green single fin board that everybody takes turns riding in "Thicker Than Water", I think they made it from a longer board that was broken. They all ripped on that board! Made it look so fun.
Wow I don't really agree with any of this... Sounds like a kook wrote it... Maybe the beaver tail thing and the short shorts I can agree with... But seriously- did this guy ever ride a retro longboard? Who wouldn't want to tow in if they had the chance?? Haha - ok I can laugh at it!
And seriously- have you guys ever tried finless in the summer?? Serious fun! Soooo much more speed when you cruising down the line... Wait. Maybe this guy has to take a trip to Belmar... Or maybe he already is from Belmar!? Haha
#7 Asyms...... My theory on these is the shaper F'd it all up so he just starts hacking away at it. I think it's definitely a west coast thing. And honestly I'm kinda jealous of someone that can refine a board down to that level to match their surfing. That's some Galapagos islands kinda sh!t. Was the surfboard created from his image or did it evolve into it's present state? But this? Come on.... it looks like some kinda cosplay junk.
All boards are not proper fits for everybody. The problem comes when people try to ride one design just like another. And all boards can be fun in the proper conditions. Droppin in on a double over bomb at Middle Steamers is a great feeling on a single fin. I've only tried it on a wierd 5'8-10ish (i dont remember exact dims) disk with a super pin tail, but like 22 inch nose. Called it the chode. Rode a old 70's single fin in some head highish surf out here and was wishing for a fish, but knew on a little bigger day that 7'0 would have been amazing!
And i'd rock a beaver tail. I think they are awesome. Farmer johns too. All that sh!t! Not the short shorts tho. I'll show a little thigh but i want to keep my wang in the shorts while in public places.
mine is not retro. it's entirely new. an experimental, futuristic high-performance shortboard i call an mp/hot-buttered 7'0" raised-deck double-wing swallowtail deep-six channel bottom in the eye with a greenough 4a for all-around average nj/hatteras beachbreak surf.
oh,and the only reason it's so big is i'm 6'5", overweight, old and have a serious medical condition in both legs.
that rant sounds like it came right from the pages of the swell info forum. seriously if i was a trustafarian, i wouldn't work either and i would definitley build a vintage motorcycle.
