Hey fellow East FL surfers, looks like this weekend will be pretty awesome, some ridiculous swell forecasted:
Juno Pier.jpg MSW 3-4-13.jpg

Question though...any ideas of break that can handle this kind of size? I'm fearful it's just gonna be massive close-outs all weekend...no worries if you can reveal your super secret spot, just don't see overhead waves @ 14+ secs here in FL.

I'm thinking Juno Pier will hold it pretty well, but who knows, just hope it holds up! Here's to some good waves fellas!

What about Monster Hole? Me, it's too big for me. Will be out there south of sebastian inlet riding the whitewater for fun, I know my limits

If you know of a deep water break somewhere I would go to it, hit it early in the a.m. winds are gonna be on it ;)

Betty: We're forecasted to get some bigger (overhead) stuff here in VA Beach at the end of the end of the week and Sunday. I wasn't planning on going out, as I've only been surfing for the past 7 mos. I'm well out of the white water stage and can ride across the wave but struggle when gets to 4 ft. If the whitewater is do-able and I can safely stay out of everyone's way, I may give it a try. Otherwise, the board stays on the roof of my car. I'm 57 and have spent a lot of time in the water and the surf since I was a kid, but not on a board. As Clint Eastwood said, "A man's got to know his limitations".

I would try Jap Rock in Boca, or 2nd street in Fort Laudie. The swell is going to push all the way into Miami I'm pretty sure, so Juno is probably the worst bet considering the swell/wind direction. I know the city is dredging Jupiter Inlet and Reef Road which sucks because those were my first bet.

I agree. I am your big sister as I am now 62 and started surfing two years ago, go out every weekend. I am very comfortable long boarding across a wave under 4 feet. I will still do 4-4.5 feet, but not when it hits five. I have a cute 5'10 short board that I belly ride when the waves hit 5 foot. It's a scream-- it's super fun and someday I know I will be surfing 5' waves too :) I am lucky to have a beginners beach break that's empty in the winter so no one runs me off ;)

Well ladies hope you have fun, but still curious to any ideas on the better spots for this weekend.

Even if only to go watch lol cause Sunday is showing like 10 ft+ and I think I'm good on that unless its glassy as could be! (Highly doubtful in FL)

Kyle it looks like the wind may be a factor in most places so it could be blown out, but I do know Melbourne did very well for Hurricane Bill, as did New Smyrna / Ponce Inlets, they hold swell pretty nicely. I seriously doubt this will equal Bill in any way, so i'd say just about anywhere will hold this IMO.

It looks like it won't be cleaning up until early/middle of next week.

Oh cool, think that's big? Check out the forecast for Nazare!

Good for you buddy, there's always bigger somewhere else, I was just speaking about South FL (don't see swells like this too often here) but have fun up there!

Surprise, Surprise....we had some N.W. winds on it this morning up until 10 a.m. = Big Fun....I'm beat. This swell should really start cleaning up by early this week, hopefully!!!
