There is an issue in your society when hundreds of thousands of people take to the streets. This isn't because AL Sharp told them to, it's because they're PISSED at decades of police overreach. On the other hand, NY is safe today and it's thanks to the NYPD. The minorities and economically disadvantaged have paid a much higher price for this safety, and that's why they're rightfully pissed. If you grew up getting beaten and hassled by cops, you'd be out there too.

It doesn't matter whether or not Garner/Brown were criminals, this is a decades-long problem of systemic injustice. It was going to reach a boiling point either way. Here we are- something has to change.

I grew up in the 90s... I hate cops. On principle. Law enforcement is a historical extension of jerks with armor riding around taking tolls from people on the kings road. Detectives solve crimes, but arshhowes in cruisers just pick people off for dumb ish. Are you protecting and serving by giving me a ticket for my headlight?! Is the community really safer because I have to pay $120 because the sticker on my windshield is yellow and not blue, and I didn't get it updated in time. Nope. Just paying the toll to be on the kings road. The profession tends to attract jerks and powertrippers. Just like the field of chemistry tends to attract nerds, and strip clubs tend to attract single moms.
