Man some peeps just don't understand the police....

Like, I didn't follow this B'more thang, but it sounds like the cops took the dude on a "VAN RIDE," where the cops have a handcuffed suspect in the back of the van unattached to anything.

Then they drive all erratic. Stomp on the brakes...

Philly used to do that all the time and B'more is Philly's lil' brother.

And doesn't this all result from THE FRICKIN WAR ON DRUGS....

Didn't the dude make "EYE CONTACT" with the police as he was slangin on the streets.

These police who are still all gung-ho on cracking drugs???

They are the definition of insanity. It's friggin West Baltimore for God's sakes. They are supposed to sell drugs there. Some may say by design.

O's Exec John Angelos nailed it.

And apparently he cranked it out on a Twitter debate rather than some official team release.

After protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray turned violent on Saturday, Baltimore sports-radio broadcaster Brett Hollander took to Twitter to argue that demonstrations that negatively impact the daily lives of fellow citizens are counter-productive. Orioles COO John Angelos, son of owner Peter Angelos, seized the opportunity to respond with a qualified and brilliant defense of those protesting.

You can read the whole thing in Angelos’ Twitter replies, but it’s transcribed here for clarity. It’s all here because it’s all so good. Read the whole thing:

Brett, speaking only for myself, I agree with your point that the principle of peaceful, non-violent protest and the observance of the rule of law is of utmost importance in any society. MLK, Gandhi, Mandela and all great opposition leaders throughout history have always preached this precept. Further, it is critical that in any democracy, investigation must be completed and due process must be honored before any government or police members are judged responsible.

That said, my greater source of personal concern, outrage and sympathy beyond this particular case is focused neither upon one night’s property damage nor upon the acts, but is focused rather upon the past four-decade period during which an American political elite have shipped middle class and working class jobs away from Baltimore and cities and towns around the U.S. to third-world dictatorships like China and others, plunged tens of millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation, and then followed that action around the nation by diminishing every American’s civil rights protections in order to control an unfairly impoverished population living under an ever-declining standard of living and suffering at the butt end of an ever-more militarized and aggressive surveillance state.

The innocent working families of all backgrounds whose lives and dreams have been cut short by excessive violence, surveillance, and other abuses of the Bill of Rights by government pay the true price, and ultimate price, and one that far exceeds the importances of any kids’ game played tonight, or ever, at Camden Yards. We need to keep in mind people are suffering and dying around the U.S., and while we are thankful no one was injured at Camden Yards, there is a far bigger picture for poor Americans in Baltimore and everywhere who don’t have jobs and are losing economic civil and legal rights, and this makes inconvenience at a ballgame irrelevant in light of the needless suffering government is inflicting upon ordinary Americans.

Some are crying out for more govt to solve it, others want govt to relent their imposition, viewed as the cause of suffering...

Lot's of failed policies... unfortunately there is likely more to come.

Would be awesome if they actually put their energy into looking for work rather than reparations and protesting . I can't imagine how much Boston is spending tonight on extra cops for the protest there ? I protested seabrookah station and got arrested but never thought of throwing rocks @ PoPo . Also these 12/14 year old kids have no clue what they are doing . Just following the elders . So this is how it goes on and on from one baby day to the next . Stupid

I absolutely hate Twitter...but this statement right here would motivate me to buy season tickets. A very lucid and introspective view of the nonsense that's going on in his town.

Why don't people like this run for office? (I know the answers, just sayin', somewhat rhetorical question)

If we get a Bush vs a Clinton this time around, again wtf wtf wtf, I'm just gonna puke. And then not vote at all, that's for shiiite sure.

Exact way I feel. Guys who speak the TRUTH will never get elected unless the public stops voting for these cronies. I won't waste another day at the voting booth until a true leader who says what NEEDS to be said runs. Someone with a backbone, who doesn't care about the status quo and attacks the real issues with real solutions and doesn't care to be popular.

They may get assassinated in the end but who knows, maybe not. This country is ripe for a big change. I think people are ready to break free of the same ole same ole. People are sick and tired of being sick and tired...
