It doesn't matter what your family history is. If you are burning your community to the ground, you are only hurting your community. You certainly aren't addressing the issue. What did the LA riots accomplish? Police brutality still exists in LA. I would say these uprisings only hurt the cause, in most cases. It paints a picture that these low income communities aren't filled with regular citizens just looking to work and live. The reality is, that there are more good people out there than bad, but the looters and rioters have the loudest voice. It isn't "one love". This is uncontrollable and uncivilized anger and hatred. I can think of hundreds of ways to push for a change, all of which would be more effective than burning down your own neighborhoods.

There were 210 murders in Baltimore last year, 68 so far this year. The vast majority were black youth. One man is killed in police custody and it's an excuse to burn your city? They need to look within before looking outward. They damn "white America", yet it is white America who will invest and rebuild. They just set back Baltimore 20 years into the past. Enjoy your ghetto, it's well deserved.
I am a Bmore resident. My wife works in the heart of the city in the ER as a nurse. She had nat'l guard and sherriffs blocking her entrance all day yesterday. I worried about her and my unborn child all day and night yesterday. I really liked the city including the grit before this. I felt connected with those different than me which not everyone does... but not anymore. Today is different. I am looking for a new house and am looking forward to getting the h3ll away from the city. Ignorant people who did this.
i usually agree with your posts and - to my chagrin - i agree with this and am confused so am left with only questions......its OK that the street rat died "for running in a bad neighborhood?"......so its OK to militarize then pummel one who would light a cigarette? is a cop justified in shooting a man in the back for being late on child support? is a bad taillight a death sentence? you're looking at the perps in public who created a scene. instead, you should examine those behind scene who created this mess while enjoying salaries/pensions/privilege entirely at the perps expense. and i really mean at his expense. they get all this wealth and purpose....and the vic gets......shut out 100pct from the perks of this church perpetuated social arrangement gone awry yet re-enforced with $$ from the one percent. if i didn't know better i'd say it kinda looks like they are going somewhere w/it.

sorry man, drug offenses shouldn't even be illegal much less warrant death. Baltimore PD clearly screwed up but that does not excuse rioting.

I saw a video of what is supposedly the arresting of the guy this is all about freddie gray. Don't know if it was real or not but the guy was pretty banged up. His leg was obviously broken and he was limp as they dragged him off... so I can see why the anger is there over this. On the other hand the people looting and rioting probably don't even know what the looting and rioting is over. they're just there having their fun. Part of me thinks that as a group, maybe they are less well equipped to survive in this world. Or maybe this is what happens when a group of people are exploited for their votes in return for hand outs that rob a person of their motivation and drive to do better on their own.... cough cough democrats.
