Hey all, my family is thinking bout heading out to HI AGAIN for SPRING BREAK!!!! This is around mid-late March...don't know exact dates. I just wanna know if the NS will still be any good that time of year. And if Sandy's Beach could be fun! If you want you could recommend other spots and hotels. My brother (13) and I (16 1/2) both bodyboard so... We are respectful and experienced. So just let me know from your experiences or times in HI whats good and whats not this time of year. Thanks. Wouldnt mind this at Sandys!!!! Or this at Pipe! 6ft or smaller....haha.
sandys breaks consistently in march from the persistent trade swells. north shore can be iffy in march... if the north pacific does crank out a solid swell for you then you'll be stoked, because the north shore will be relatively un-crowded (emphasis on relative). This north shore has been pretty poor for the beginning of this winter, but has recently turned ON with back to back solid swells and more on the way this week. Hopefully this will continue into the late winter for you. Swellinfo will be launching Hawaii surf forecasts in the very near future with some kick ass nearshore wave modelling for Oahu and Maui.
Cool...SOOOO STOKED THAT SANDYS WILL PROB BE BREAKING!!! North Shore...hopefully will be good. Thanks Swellinfo. Any other thoughts? Anyone?
Yea and I was also wondering why you didnt have anything on Hawaii up yet?...a bit weird, but glad you're getting it up soon!!! Good work guys!!!
i've been there in march. like micah said, it's hit or miss on the n. shore. we got sandy's alright but that's because the swell was wrapping into the south shore. depending on the sandbars and swell direction sandy's is kind of a closeout anyway. With the ****ty season the N. shore has been having it'll be tough to get pipe becuase the moment it turns on every person on the island will be there. Don't worry though, plenty of other spots, rocky rights, logs, otw, gas chambers will be just as fun. on another note, if you haven't been training i recommend doing so because you will have some long hold-downs.
