    Hey guys,
I'm planning on making a trip out there February 15th-22nd, flying into LAX, staying at San Onofre State park. I was just wondering, how safe of a bet is it to go ahead and set this in stone? I don't care if its super ridiculous epic (almost anything would be better than how the winter has been here), just looking for at least solid and fun surf. Any tips or insight would be appreciated too. Thanks!

    non-answer

sorry, man, but it could go either way. this week alone the swell went from ankle to overhead and back, and the santa anas kicked up, chopping the glass into frothy offshore spray. generally this time of year waves are bigger than summer and a lot more likely to be glassy in early am (till about 10) and possibly late afternoon. water is in high 50's and the air is gonna go from low 60's to mid 70's and back between today and next friday.....it is not supposed to rain, but the only thing one can guarantee is no snow.

ahh ok well thanks.. I might just go ahead and book it, and if it looks too iffy at the last minute I guess I could always switch it up (and pay the awesome fee's from the airline). Man, 60's and 70's sounds like a dream now!

I'll be out there the 12th to the 19th. Was going to surf with one of my buds, but he got called away on business so I'll be solo in soco.

just check the south SD forecast here on swellinfo when it gets closer to your trip... it's pretty accurate except the last few winter NW's we've had it will say stomach-shoulder when it arrives here in OB head+ with overhead sets. haha. i guess that's a good thing tho ;) i hope y'all score some nice lines

If I had an Indian name it'd be "Wind on Shore."

haha yeah... I'm still planning on going even though the wind and weather looks like it might be a little iffy. It's nice that there will actually will be waves, just need to pray to the magical wind people to calm down a little.

The trip tuned out great! Hit up Scripts on Wed., a little bumpy, but fun. Surfed Trestles for 5 hrs on Thurs. and there was no crowd and it was firing! Had a peak all to myself!! Surfed Blacks on fri. and it was equally as good! A shot out to all you West Coast guys, saw alot of skill and everyone was super chill. Back to 38 degree water this week though!
