antoine, yeah maybe down in FL for you with the sharks migrating from up here towards the equator but no keystone species up here now breh.
If your in NJ, then you'll need to get south of LBI/Briggs - If your good, then you would NOT be asking. If you suck, go further south. Yes, you can surf in these conditions. I would suggest nothing less then a 5mil. I like 7mil boots on these days. Its hard to say how long you'll last - depends on your immune system. Eat a fatty breakfast. The trick is to have someone in a car with the car on. The hardest part is getting out of the water and back to your car. 99% of core people in the water and have a plan for after they get out. I can remember surfing OCNJ back in the day and seeing minigroms ride their beach cruizers to the beach with wind chills around 10. If you want to surf, then do it. Oh, put some vasaline on your face as this keeps your eyes and lips from splitting. But honestly, once your in the water your OK - I pomise you that - its getting out that can suuuuuuck. Have a plan for getting out and Good luck!
yeah hypothermia could be a risk , but I think the winds are going to be wrong most of the a.m. for us in northern Monmouth county . besides the hook will probably be closed ,my personal preference . glad I've got a heated vest in case it does clean up .
I heard that surfing in the cold in Maine will turn you into a Gnome loving, wooden board building a$$hole who rapes latex dummies and secretly wants to butt ream a dirty smelly hippy from NZ. Just sayin be careful out there. Vote Rcarter in 2014 Because if we all work together we can all hate everybody
i voted thanks for your help in directing my hate. whats your stance on new jersey that is the real question?
I'm alright with Jersey overall, I know that Jersey Shore show is not representative of all you folks. And I have recently learned via SI that Belmar rules all and has the best waves on the east coast if not the planet! Vote Rcarter in 2014 Because if we all work together we can all hate everybody
Awesome! In all seriousness, the cold is really good for you. Getting hypothermia symptoms is good for your body. Never have I gotten sick from cold water or known anyone to get sick from winter surfing.
Truth. Just don't try this at home. Make sure you're supervised. And make sure you leave your truck running at the break, and a hot coffee in the cup holder for the lucky some bish that drives away with a free whip on you. Really, though. Best damn buzz ever when you go hypo and warm back up. Can't wait for endogenous opiates today. And Sniffer is right, it's actually a very healthy series if events after exposure to cold. If you don't die.
Just went out for 45 in southern maine - 5/3 wetsuit 3 hood, 5 gloves, 7 booties, lubed up face, go get yourself some in jersey- woulda been out longer but cops wanted to tow my car
Just got back from CR. It's really taking me a ton of thought as to whether to pull on the 5/4 w hood & all the fixin's manana.
In this swell I'd totally be at a secret point up there. Forget the beachbreaks (HA!) for the masses.
Loneliness........ And RCarter, most of those Jersey Shore people weren't from New Jersey. They're New Yorker's
Really? How much sexier can I get? Cosmopolitan Magazine said, to hell with Clay, once they saw my avatar. I mean, I'd f*ck me and I'm not even gay. Did you see those ears? How would you be able to keep your tongue out of them? So hot.
