    6'1, 190lbs, 50 years old

    5'3 Mini Simmons
    6'0 Retro fish
    6'4 battail quad groveler
6'6 round tail shortboard for good surf
7'0 East Coast gun for the biggest stuff we get
    9'3 single fin log

Just picked up an old 9'8 G&S Stretch, original from the '60s. That thing is weird, but really fun once you've figured it out.

6'4" chemistry roboto. for anything up to head. best in smaller
6'0" JC el quatro. good in hh+ , never surfed more than 2ft over head. pretty fun tho
9'4" redney designs nose rider. 2+1 fin setup. On a side note if any one knows anything about Redney out of Newport RI, please tell. Never heard of the company before I got this board used. I think he/she stopped shaping
9'8" Hobie on temporary trade for above board. Probably twenty years old, fun but strange...Kookzamboni

    no.

if the fin set up doesn't look like either the left or the right, it's not a bonzer.

002.jpg C'mon man. I know what a bonzer is, jeez. You want me to post pics of my quad to make sure it's not really just a schizophrenic twin fin?

    5'10.5", 152, 45y.o.

Everyday board: a 20+y.o. 7'6" Robert August funboard; for bigger swells or sharper breaks than I'm used to, a 6'10" Al Merrick. Awaiting my new Ashton 7'10" to replace the Robert August.

    me: 5'11" 185lbs 33 y/o

    daily grovel: 5'9" x 20" x 2.5" with 5 fin and diamond tail
    skateboardy-surfboard: 5'11" x 19.25" x 2 1/2 with 5 fin and swallow
    decent waves: 6'0" x 19.5" x 2 7/16"
    good waves: 6'2" x 19" x 2 7/16"
    longboard: 8' 6"

Ive noticed that my crappy longboard is still a little 'short' but the big board is what really helped me step my shortboarding game up. Aside from paddling and positioning, the three things that most important for an intermediate surfer are:

-arm positioning (keep leading arm on the heelside rail)
    -weight distribution (moar back foot)
-looking at the critical part of the wave, fully commited

Great post bro. We have very similar body type and board choices.

When you say looking at critical part of wave, do you mean during the ride itself or getting takeoffs on the peak?

    6'2" 175 lbs. 25 years on earth

I mostly just surf my 6'0" Coil Flashback (round tail, 5-fin option) these days. She can handle it all as long as it's waist high.

Man...I have too many boards...but lately been riding a Von Sol Shadow 5'7"x19 3/4"x2 1/16" prob. 28 liters. Board is super floaty, but so much fun... 5'10"x165lbs.

2 1/16? Super floaty? 19 3/4 sure, 5'7 sure, but 2 1/16 for a 5'10 165 guy does not translate to super floaty. Sure that measurement is right and it's not 5/16? I figure 2 1/4 would be as absolutely thin as you would want that board to be.
