I raced 250B mod at Loretta's in 2012 and it was not fun at all. Track sucks and everyone thinks theyre the next chase sexton. Got into open pro and 250 A in 2013 and had a lot more fun. Last race was budds creek. Ripped the holie at the regional in open pro sport and led three laps, got landed on by a fella on the big gulp double and then landed on next moto down henry hill.
Word from the wise to the young uns: All my rad friends can no longer paddle out due to motorcross or jumping bikes on ramps. So, if you want to surf longer and better and still get the adrenaline rush just go bigger in the water (it's only water).
completely agree with you lol. 250c class is just a retarded mix of goons and slow/half decent B riders who think there going pro and makin it big. Its honestly just a waste of time and money to go for pro license unless you have a full ride from 65cc/85cc class. Yea its a hell of alot of fun, but the cost is retarded. LL has to be one of the ****tiest tracks to race and it just so happens to be the biggest amateur event each year sadly... Hell even Zack Freeberg who was my trainer didnt get a ride and he was top 10 in 250 Supercross championship. Such a ****ty sport for pro's unless your top 5. My race season ended when a guy decided to cross up on the gator pit drop down on the holeshot with a full gate and me slamming and flipping over the bars. Funny thing was the EMT thought it was a dislocated shoulder, came to find out i broke the bone and my elbow too lmao. I still ride, just hard to ride during college.
Definitely a great adrenaline rush, but sometimes you damn near kill yourself! I hate to sound old, since I hate being older and like to pretend that I'm 25 still, but I feel like motocross is a young man's game at this point. Whereas surfing is for all ages. I find there's too much at stake later in my life with riding my bike. I can't afford to be laid up for months at this point. I still have it and I still ride quite a few times a year. One other pain in the ass is places to ride. There used to be an overabundance of sand pits and places to ride by me (Monmouth and Ocean County New Jersey) 15 years ago. Now cops are ticketing people riding in those sand pits. And I don't feel like paying a bunch of money to ride at the track at Raceway Park. Not to mention that there's even a few places I used to ride at years ago, which are now being built on and new construction going up with houses and condos. No longer can ride at those places. I have a wave runner too, which is like a water bike haha. I use that on the flat days in the Summer. My neighbor lets me use his slip at the Glimmer Glass, so I just have to load it into the bike of my truck and drive 2 blocks to the slip. I'm still able to paddle out and all, just a few broken bones. Though I will say, it's more a young man's game and too much potential for injury at this point. Even though I don't work for 4-5 months out of the year, I still can't afford to take the chance of something happening. If I get hurt in July or August and can't go back to work when I'm supposed to in September, I could lose my job and be ****ed. And disability pays d!ck too. It's funny how a lot of the competitive motocross guys are retiring barely into their 30's. Some of the one's that are are still going past that age, aren't very good anymore. I still like to do it a dozen times a year though, but I would rather surf.
Pretty good words of wisdom haha. Only problem is its a life style just like im sure surfing is for alot of yall. Once you get into it, its hard to get out of unless your crippled or 6' underground lol. I dont do ramps and wouldnt want to, so i got that going for me at least. Here kinda what im more into. Savage is a surf label started in the '80s in Satellite Beach, FL and they opened up shop in Wilmington, NC a few years ago. Shapes are by Kenny Briel and Shawn O'donnell. http://savagesurfboards.com/ Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Didn't know that, thanks for the info. Pretty suite looking shape, just weird for an old Fish freak like me to see one with 5 fins.
It was custom. I wanted to be able to test out what i would like and since the cost for adding a couple more fin boxes wasn't that much, i just went with the extra couple for more flexibility. going to try a Twin fin this weekend. I found the thruster hard to turn the board. Could have just been me, but im going to see what the twin fin setup does differently anyhow.
Yea haha. Was my first day back on the bike since my injury. Honda + FMF exhaust is one loud ass machine.
Use a small trailer fin to loosen it up, you'll get more drive than a twin set up, more stable off the bottom.
I'm not one for hazing new people (barely post here, am pretty unknown by the regulars), but a bike with that many mods in that kind of shape with new tires does strike me as a bit suspect. I did race dirt for a while, and still commute and occasionally track an S1000RR, and water is a lot more forgiving than dirt, asphalt or bumper, and to me, boards and bikes activate the same pleasure sensors in my brain. Good luck with surfing and when you inevitably go back to riding (trust me, I've said never quite a few times), keep the rubber side down.
that's still sick! gonna add to the other thread by bubs, things I will never be able to do. this is definitely one of them! had a Kawasaki 90 when I was young and had a ball! at 48 that would be suicide by dirt and rock! how many feet do you estimate this jump?
Hahaha. Thanks man. this jumps probably around 80ft long. Theres a 130ft on this track too! One of my favorite places to ride.
Yea haha. Most the mods are very necessary in order to compete at a high level. I still ride, just havent raced since my injury due to not having the time to ride every week. Its really hard to compete at the level that we do when only riding once every week or less.
Welcome aboard buddy. Stop with the excessive use of "lmao." Also, I highly recommend that you stop wasting money on that motocross and start spending it on fvcking some whores. dew.
I thought his bike was pretty stock to be honest haha. If you think thats a modded bike you should've seen my 450 when i was trying to qualify at atlanta sx in 2014... That thing was trick. Had every bell and whistle pro circuit sold for my kx thanks to a local shop sponsoring me. That bike was tricked out
Yea the picture i posted was of my stock bike. Only has suspension work done and rims as for some reason AMA thinks Hubs give you an unfair advantage in stock class lmao. Dont have a picture of the mod bike but its not all that different. The one i was riding in the video was the mod bike, just has rims/hubs spokes, FMF exhaust, hinson full clutch setup and a aftermarket Cam/piston. Not all that modded compared to a full blown supercross bike or most Pro bikes as yours was definitely pushing way more Hp then mine im guessing. Hoping to sell the bikes and get a KTM 450 or Honda 450. Those KTM's are retarded how light they are for how much Hp they produce. But i have so many damn parts for the Honda now its almost impossible to leave them with the connections you make over the years =/.
