Which out of these four choices do you think defines family?
    1. CCC Definition:
The Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. In the procreation and education of children it reflects the Father's work of creation. It is called to partake of the prayer and sacrifice of Christ. Daily prayer and the reading of the Word of God strengthen it in charity. The Christian family has an evangelizing and missionary task.
    2. Family is where we learn to love God and others. It’s where we learn to live as responsible citizens.
    3. Class definition:
Family is a group of people who love, respect, and trust each other. Family is togetherness. Family is a bond consisting of comfort, and happiness. Family is a support system that offers unconditional love to its members. In addition to blood relatives, family can include spouses, close friends, God (and sometimes pets regardless of their species).
    4. Other:
    Say what you think…

THanks, i gota o a project where i survay people and answers would help.

I'd say number 3 is the best one as well. Family to me, as I'm sure to most of you just does not include just the "blood." I consider most of my close friends family more than the blood family. Family is always there for you no matter related or not. Good Luck dude.

Agreed. Key word being GENETICS. A family, is a multi-generational group of DNA related individuals. In some instances, through adoption and a few other rare instances, there can be exceptions, but by my definition. It is a mother, father and children... Repeating the same process in the generation below.

    Family.

We sometimes say our friends are "family" but we do not mean this literally.

    Piece of cake... in song:
    http://famille.bontemps.free.fr/elisenda/selectamusic MATU/Sister Sledge - We Are Family.mp3

    In words: (CHORUS:)
    We are family
I got all my sisters with me
    We are family
    Get up ev'rybody and sing

    Ev'ryone can see we're together
    As we walk on by
(FLY!) and we fly just like birds of a feather
    I won't tell no lie
(ALL!) all of the people around us they say
    Can they be that close
Just let me state for the record
We're giving love in a family dose

    (CHORUS x2)

Living life is fun and we've just begun
To get our share of the world's delights
(HIGH!) high hopes we have for the future
    And our goal's in sight
(WE!) no we don't get depressed
Here's what we call our golden rule
Have faith in you and the things you do
    You won't go wrong
    This is our family Jewel

    (REPEAT CHORUS TO FADE)

it's hard to say because there's religious families, community families (e.g. the swellinfo family or surf family), blood related families, and of course the biologic version of the taxonomic ranks (family, genus, species, class, order, etc).

i'd say i believe i refer to family the most as #3 though. as i believe my blood and my entire dorm house are families
