looks like several spots are washed out... who has a guess on how long until people are allowed through again? specifically on hatteras island where i think its the worst
Hwy 12 is trashed and will probably take over a week to fix. They're going to start ferrying supplies tomorrow.
yeah im gathering all the info i can about it. been going down for the past few years every september, typically stayed in nags head in a hotel but this time said hey lets go further south where its more quiet and get a house. woops! supposed to go down in 2 weeks to rodanthe but im thinking we cant get there coming from the north, we can just go the longggg way and come up from the south via ferry if need be. estimates are varying wildly, yours being by far the most optimistic haha
i just saw news footage of that highway...that thing is messed up and will probably take a long time to fix
S turns turns point break? i am so amazed that the blue house tale winds made it through that storm! i never thought an inlet would get cut right there. reverse storm surge, jeesh.
No doubt...and with good reason. I was going off of my next-door neighbor's word (owns a second home in KDH). I got back from dawn patrol about 7:30 on Sunday when he told me he got the word it would be over a week. Looking at the pics, it looks like it'll take months!
