As you can see, the wind is a little strong this morning. I never thought global warming would have this much effect on the weather.

    CURRENT WEATHER
    SKY: Overcast
    AIR TEMP: 55.0° F
    WIND: NE @ 306 kts
    OCEAN TEMP: 67.1° F [?]
This Ocean Temperature is taken from derived Satellite and Buoy data. This temperature is a good indication for water temps several miles off the coast, and may vary from the temperature at your beach. Temperature Biases are strongest during cold water upwelling events where temperatures at your beach may be several degrees colder.

That's open to debate. There is actually more evidence to support Global COOLING than global warming. Fluctuations are guaranteed and the ice age and things like that prove that the earth can undergo major weather changes even without human interference. I'm not saying that it's definitely not real, just that nobody can actually prove it is not just part of a cycle. The earth goes through cycles on time scales that are way longer than our lifetime so who is to say that this isn't just another one of those cycles??? Still, cut back your pollution and waste. It has to be good for mother earth somehow.

If you noticed the wind speed indication this morning it stated that the wind was at 306kts. I was refering to that.

There must have been a typo with a decimal point missing, 306 knots equals 352.138511 mph which even in a category 5 hurricane is unheard of.

Im thinking it meant to say 30.6 knots.

For the first time I can honestly say that I really don't want either candidate to be president. In a country full of talented and intelligent people, our choices are limited to this.......I still haven't decided who is the lesser evil so I'm not sure who I'm voting for.

Interesting...exactly how i felt about Bush vs. Kerry 4 years ago. "Clown to the left of me, Joker on the right" to quote an old song.

    hey Charlie,

these crazy wind speeds are being brought in from the coastal wind stations. There seems to be some kind of bug showing up now and again. Not sure if it on our end or the weather station. I'll look into it.

    Ooookaaay. . .

So who would be better for the surf industry and surfers in general, McCain, or Obama? Is that not a surf question? At least as much as ''what's your ride (car)'' or ''Non-surf related photos.'' A forum is a forum is a forum. The Palin comment was based upon the notion that the earth is actually undergoing global cooling, not warming- which is what Palin espouses. Six of one and half dozen of another.

correct me if i'm wrong... The offshore water temperatures stay warmer the closer it gets to winter because the water is deeper as oppose to the water closer to shore where you are surfing. THe water close to shore is shallow so it cools faster. So when the offshore bouy says its 67degrees and its the middle of october, the water closer to shore is probably in the lower 60's and too cold for just a springsuit?

    I would say. . .

Obama would be good for surfers and bodyboarders in general since he spent many of his days in Hawaii bodyboarding and bodysurfing at Sandy Beach. Also, his agenda is surfer friendly: i.e. Ecological protectionism, Public beach accessibility, Calm and steady OHana mindset (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohana), fostering alternative energy resources, lower taxes since I don't make anywhere near $250k per year, universal health care- one of my five meds costs in excess of $450 for a 90 day supply- and best of all, no more soldiers have to die in Iraq and we'll save 10 billion a month in the treasury. Skin cancer history keeps McCain out of the water at the wave pool in Tempe, AZ, so it's safe to say ''John don't surf.''

    Cheers

I wish you guys could stay on subject, although I do think Bush is the one responsible for these excessive winds we've been seeing in the weather section lately. Obama will fix it thought, how do I know you might ask............because he's for CHANGE. Thank god someone has come along who will take care of us all. We will not longer have to worry about anything like working, health care, dying, losing money, paying taxes, fighting wars, foreign oil, etc........ I feel so good now, Socialism is the answer and I can't wait for the government to come get my guns either............
