I don't care how comfortable croc's are you look like a dumbass. the first time I saw someone wearing them I thought they had a medical condition. Then everyone started wearing them and I thought oh **** this is contagous.
thank you This thread is why i love this site. All the kids in my school wear hollister and don't realize that they look like the biggest ***gets and need to be **** slapped. There all a bunch of ***get poser, kook, tourist. If you guys saw these kids you would probably gouge your eyeballs out just so you didn't have to see this ****.
never heard of that word wither, i just had a thought imagine some kids went to Malibu or the north shore and were wearing all hollister Hawaii/Malibu contest classic shirts and thought they were better than the locals. There would be some beat downs going down lol
Sheeple---- Peaple walking around like a herd of lost stupid sheep, some peaple like to refer to word when refering to clothing I.e. a poser in sheeps clothing
I think the important thing to remember is that while we, as surfers, are aware of Hollister's capitalization on surf culture, many of us are also being force fed our culture and styles from other companies. How many of us wear labels of our favorite brands? At least many of those labels are actively involved in surf culture and perpetuate the sport we love, but our style is still being defined by companies that are telling us what is the newest trend, rather than a personal choice. True style is timeless - it's not about labels, it's about the basics. I understand the idea of being a walking advertisement for a company that is sponsoring you to surf, but what about the rest of us? Pay 20 dollars to wear a logo to be associated with a stereotype? Or define your own style, opting for graphic design or simplicity, and by doing so, becoming something unique, with a style you can call your own. Just some thoughts to ponder. And it should be noted that while the fins backward photo is HILARIOUS and i also have hatred for hollister, the guy in the photo is sporting an american eagle sweatshirt...a company with very similar business ethics, marketing strategies, and target population.. i'm not calling anyone out, nor saying I am above the systems in place, i'm just providing some food for thought. peace!
Who needs a surf culture? And why would surfing need to be perpetuated by a clothing company? Just give me somebody who can produce the board I want and the waveriding gear that I need (wax, wetsuit, swim fins...). If the margins on "surf clothing" is needed for a surf shop's survival then ok, but I could give a damn about what anyone wears. Nonetheless, I seriously doubt that a surf shop's survival depends upon clothing since there are plenty of small shops that limit their inventory to waveriding gear. Clothing mark-ups bring "good living" but I would hardly call that the "surfer lifestyle."
went to the mall today and walked past hollister. The people that work there are kooks. the pretend that they surf one guy was holding a surfboard in the front and then there is the smell......
didn't know what hollister was until I visited MD a few years ago and saw the store. They really don't have them out here, even tho its a california company. I was Really pissed, because they had like 10, brand new, super sick shortboards all over the store and they were all just being used as displays and sh**. These were high performance short boards, that were trapped in the land of kooks and hodads. A bunch of surf boards and surf gear that will never get wet. That will never see the ocean.... Fu**Ing sh**y company. Posers.
AND NONE OF THE SH** IN THE STORE IS ACTAULLY SURF GEAR!!!! I mean, its a joke. Its american eagle's same clothes with a different name. There is ZERO connection with surfing and hollister. I mean, AE used naked teenages all wrestling each other in field for their ads, and hollister uses a bunch of little underwear models holding surfboards under their arms... its just marketing at the youth today. Surfing is "cool" even for those who have never seen it. Its called being exploited. We are all being exploited by places like that. Showing some landlocked kid in Kansas that surf culture is about cargo pants and knit sweaters... ridiculous.
yeah I cant stand Hollister. In the Hamilton mall they had surf vidoe's playing on a flat screen on the wall . And these 2 guys were watching it instead of doing there jobs. They were like I cant wait to go Costa and get some waves like that???? I was like hey man just to let you know that Northern Califonia and can you even tell me who that is surfing???? They they said if I am not here to buy anything I have to leave, So I replied dont work I dont wanna keep the Kooks out cause they are intimidated buy someone who actually surfs
yeah i like this post.. everyone hatin' on a common enemy. i absolutely hate that store with all of thier fake surf contest shat and the surfboards with hollister painted on it. what a disgrace.
Totally agree This store i so fuc<ing retarded(kook store) I don't even wanna type its name and it sucks big time.
