for learning on your fun board- unless the swell is so huge that everywhere else is maxed out in which case guiones will hold it. the wave (and paddle out) are super long- but if it's waist high & mushy there you are missing the fun waves nearby- makes a great place to branch out from to a lot of more consnitant and higher performance spots

and for a honeymoon it would be a good recomendation- it is the nicest of the CR beach towns- swank by CR standards- check out the Italian place "la vida dolce"- some amazing food.

Or check out Harmony Hotel, some of there rooms have nice private outdoor showers, some real good food, especially the whole Pargo Rojo, best fish I've ever had.

Definitely better fit for longboard or family, but nice shaped waves, beautiful water and also some good waves around if you have the time to explore, cross rivers, and drive on some shi!!y roads.

Agreed waves in Tarmarindo suck.. but close by are at least half a dozen good spots (no one mentioned Marbella). Agreed lots to do in CR and lots to see but disagree for a honeymoon I don't know that I would want to spend that much time on the road to drive/ ferry to the central coast let alone Quepos from Liberia (you're talking half a day+ road time). I want to have sex, do cool stuff, and surf. You can book touristy stuff to do at any number of shops in Tamarindo on the fly... horses, kayak, zipline, fishing, snorkeling & go to Don Fernando's to eat.. unless you are a vegetarian (even desert is steak). South, central, north, Caribbean all awesome but best explored one or two at a time to get the full effect...just one man's opinion.
